The janet. era is my favorite era of anyone's music career, and TTWLG is better than every Mariah single imho.

That's The Way Love Goes. Janet had a decent run 1986 -1997. Been listening a good bit since her Glastonbury gig. I'd forgotten how much of that material I once enjoyed.

Mariah's a good songwriter but her music never clicked for me.

We all know Janet is going to win around here but I much prefer Mariah's "Dreamlover". Mariah was the better singer and songwriter. But, in both cases, I don't count those particular songs amongst my favorites by either artist.

Love them both. Both albums bring back some good memories of my college years.

I hated that song (Janet) back then. Probably hate it now, too.

Dreamlover was AWESOME!! So pretty fields n all,... Mariah was really pretty back then

From the intro alone... That's The Way Love Goes" for me.

Both have great samples used throughout the track. But the additional instrumentation surrounding "TTWLG" is better in my opinion.

They both had different purposes too. Dreamlover is more upbeat if I recall while janet's tune was more subtle and smooth.

No contest for me. Dreamlover. So hopeful. TTWYG sounds depressing.

Speakng of Mariah Carey! She has wrote and performed the Theme song for ABC's 'Black-ish Spinoff, 'Mixed-ish ', It's called "In the Mix" will debut with the first episode Sept.24 on ABC.

That was part of the reason I was sold on TTWLG from the beginning. Jimmy Jam became quite the sampler.

Both are very catchy and effective pop songs. I can't really choose one over the other as one is a fantasy scenario (Dreamlover) and the other is an call to action (TTWLG). Maybe MJB's Real Love vs MC's Dreamlover?

I wanna hate on Mimi naturally but her older stuff is really strong and some of it is timeless. Dreamlover and Someday were inescapable at a moment in time. A good moment in time.

So true, Mariah has written some great songs. Alot of people just see her as the "diva with the big voice" though. But she doesn't need to dance though, LOL.
