I'm happy that Trinere returns to our annual freestyle show. She is a fantastic performer!

I love the genre but for some reason I had never heard this song before.

It sounds a bit like Can You Feel The Beat by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam....in a good way.

Thanks for this thread. I wish I could go to some of those concerts. neutral

It´s strange to see Nu Shooz on the posters. I never really considered them as part of this genre.

You never heard of Trinere? Perhaps you know of "They're Playing Our Song",one of her other big hits.

Typically,at these shows, they always have at least one or two acts that weren't really considered freestyle but were poluar around the same time that freestyle was (mid-to-late 80s).For example,The Jets are appearing at some of these shows and their music is R&B/dance pop,not freestyle.I saw NuShooz a few years ago at one of these shows and they were great, btw.

For me,the cool thing about these shows is that,it takes me back to my high school years biggrin Freestyle was so popular during that time. These shows are a fun way to reminisce and revisit that era.

Oh yeah, I know that one. I remember it from the days when I used to sport black leather jackets, gold chains and tons of gel in my curly hair. This song would get me on the dancefloor real fast. lol

.

Another great song from that era is this one...I´m sure you know it:

I really loved this song back in the day and would sometimes listen to it for hours.

But back then I never heard about any other song from her.

I only listened to Stevie B. because the girls liked him so much that I couldn´t avoid him. lol

This song had that hilarious video where he drives around in his drop top car with the fake leopard skin on the seats.

Dude had a really cool curly mullet with lots of gel. I kinda emulated that look and it´s still in my old drivers´ license. lol

The music changed when the mullets and the mighty Jheri curl disappeared. sad

I know them ALL....in fact, I still remember the lyrics to each and every song. lol

Stevie B. was extremely popular among my people, the Turkish folks in Germany.

I have no idea why but that´s the way it was. Must´ve been the hair. lol
