And to be technical, they pulled his license to perform. He can't have a concert without a permit or license. It stands to note (again), as stated in the doc, that this is not the first hometown gig canceled. There were protests by the woman who started the #MuteRKelly hashtag movement. It was a small group but they protested many venues and a good handful of his shows were canceled. It's good that Sangamon County doesn't want to be associated with his mess.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

First of all, can we please NEVER mention PRINCE and R KELLY in the same breathe i mean fucking really now. PRINCE never had one scandal, accusation etc....in his whole life and R KELLY had them once a week. My BIGGEST problem with the whole R KELLY thing is that back when R first started in music, I was working in Music Retail when these accusations starting coming 99% of people buying his shit and most were women, would say "these women lied" , "These women are nothing but strippers and groupies etc.." or when age was when an issue, "they lied and he didnt know etc.." and that was all coming from women buying his music, not guys very rarely did a male comment. NOW the whole Aaliyah thing is shady, because something happened and this should have been addressed and jail time should have happened, and also Aaliyahs family is shady as FUCK. I know people flip out with Prince's siblings and estate, shit you are never gonna see anything come from Aaliyah ever again because the family took the scraps including a shady uncle who has more bad deals than Trump. Next thing that pisses me off is ME TOO, can we rephrase this to ME TOO if you are a white woman with money, because how did R KELLY avoid all this Me TOO digging through peoples past actiivity, guess why, no one cares about the women that R violated because they are from what I hear all women of color, and you do the math on that. If R grabbed Britney or hooked up with her under age, R kelly would have been LONG GONE. Why did Bill Cosby get it you may ask, look at the victims we see, hmmm, Harvey Weinstein hmm what do i see? Ashley Judd, Jennifer Garner etc..... So thats my take, but honestly R kelly is a waste, and should have been taken down a long time ago, this was ALL KNOWN, the industry knew this, but $$$$ is being made and thats more important than these women.

@lastdecember, Prince also didn't condone profanity. lol.......However, I do agree with most of what you said, although personally I think you could have still made your point without all the colorful language, because much like Prince, I don't care to use it or hear others use it in my presence.

Sorry but I’m tired of false equations which is the trademark of the current generation, which has so much info but does so little research with it. Prince Mayte was not even anything close to R Kelly Aaliyah, R Kelly was married too also had sexual interaction with. Mayte was in Princes band and moved to Minneapolis he became a guardian because she was getting a salary and was living alone. As for profanity Prince condoned it when no one was doing it, held told Morris Hayes when he became a JW he wanted Morris to remix his old albums and take the curses out , Morris said sorry I can’t do that, it’s already on record, it’s there, it’s cool that you don’t feel that now but it’s not my place to change it nor does it really change anything.

^^@lastdecember.....well thank you for understanding my feelings about profanity, and not responding negatively, because to be honest, in today's world, which seems so full of anger and hatred, some would have done just that. It's good to know that there are still some that can discuss difference of opinions without taking offense and going off, something that's getting rare in today's society, if you know what I mean. wink

I'm not defending Prince's choices, however, there is a difference between waiting until someone is of age to date them and taking an underage person and keeping them hostage and "training" them. Prince didn't marry a child nor did he have abuse stories come out about him.

I think the problem is that many people place these celebrities on a pedastal, even to the point of making gods out of them, just because of their celebrity status, riches, fame, whatever, pretending that they can do no wrong, or ignoring the fact that they are human beings just like everyone else, with human flaws! I don't care who they are, they are NOT perfect! Just because they can sing, dance, rap, play a musical instrument, have lots of money, whatever, does not make them any less human or better than anyone else! Some choose to overlook that fact, just because they're a celebrity, and even make idols of these people, worshiping them, when in truth and reality, they shouldn't be worshiped or idolized, because they're mere men and women, just like every other man. woman, and human being on this earth. Now I know that some will never see it for what it really is, and will always idolize and worship those that are celebrities and what not, but I choose to not be one of them. Sure, at one time in my life, I've loved certain celebrities and thought that they could do no wrong, Prince being one of them, but I've also grown up, and like the saying goes "with age comes wisdom" so I've also wised up, and took off the blindfold, now seeing things in reality and truth.

R. Kelly accuser says he threatened to reveal her sex life

R. Kelly accuser says he ...r sex life

NEW YORK (AP) — R. Kelly wrote a letter threatening to reveal embarrassing details of a woman's sexual history if she didn't drop a lawsuit accusing him of sexual abuse, the woman and her lawyer said Monday.

In the letter, a person identifying himself as R. Kelly warned a lawyer for the woman, Faith Rodgers, that if she persisted with the suit, she would be "subjected to public opinion."

The letter said the singer would demand medical documentation of her claim that he gave her herpes, force her to turn over texts and social media posts, and have "10 personal male witnesses testifying under oath about her sex life."

"If Ms. Rodgers really cares about her own reputation she should cease her participation and association with the organizers of this negative campaign," the letter said.

A lawyer for R. Kelly in Chicago, Steve Greenberg, denied the letter's authenticity, saying it "looks fake."

"It obviously was not authored or signed by Mr. Kelly, nor sent on his behalf," Greenberg said. "He doesn't write letters."

The letter was sent in October to one of Rodgers' lawyers in New York, a few weeks after the singer was served with the lawsuit accusing him of demeaning her, locking her in rooms and vehicles, and subjecting her to "non-permissive, painful and abusive sex."

Rodgers, 21, said she met Kelly as a 19-year-old after a concert in San Antonio. She participated in the recently aired Lifetime documentary "Surviving R. Kelly," which catalogued years of accusations against the singer.

"We are here today to let Mr. Kelly know in no uncertain terms that he cannot and will not intimidate his alleged victims into keeping silent about their allegations," one of her lawyers, Gloria Allred, said at the news conference Monday.

"No woman should be victim-shamed, harassed or retaliated against because she asserted her rights and spoke her truth," Rodgers added.

The Associated Press does not typically name people alleging sexual abuse unless they come forward publicly, as Rodgers has done.

Kelly has vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

The letter send to Rodgers' New York lawyer, Lydia Hills, also lectured her in sometimes nonsensical terms about her understanding of the law.

"This is to enlighten you concerning the presumption of court appearances that you may not be aware of since attorneys are taught a coloring of law and not Canon or Common Law. Color-of-Law is NOT law. It's fiction for corporate fictions of which I am not."

The letter writer added later that, "I am exempt and not subject to this court so I don't know why you are even addressing me."

I just read an article and the question I have is, why did the artists, friends, family members who knew about his crimes, wait for so long? Why didn't they call him out sooner? I'm not talking about the victims here, cause I know why they didn't make it sooner, because there wouldn't have been too much support I guess. But now all of a sudden people talk, those who knew it for years should be ashamed that they didn't speak up sooner, the victims would've felt safer to speak up. The silence gave him even more power.
