R.Kelly’s Docuseries “Surviving R.Kelly” - Did any of you check last night’s episode?

How is this man not in jail?! The new information about Aayliah made my stomach churn. It’s 6-episode and the first one was already disturbing as hell.

I watched ABC's The Last Days of John Kennedy Jr. instead. JFK Jr died in 1999 and was my age!

I saw that Surviving was on Lifetime, and it was Robert telling Tavis Smiley (I think) in a 2012 interview that someone in his family "showed him" between age 7 and 14 and I was just feeling ill and put it back to ABC.

Aaliyah’s parents never pushed for charges. The girl in the tape and her parents did not testify against him. I know those were two cases that could’ve gotten him locked up

On social media, Aaliyah's mother condemned this docuseries' "witness" to abuse of Aaliyah.

I typically don't watch these sorts of things. I especially have zero interest in The Last Days of JFK JR and the forthcoming Lorena & John Wayne Bobbitt rehash. Surviving R. Kelly is in that whole genre, to me.

BUT, I did catch a segment last night. I was flabbergasted and appalled. Every black friend I had was live tweeting and updating throughout the first airing, which made me find a segment later. They are airing 4 or 5 episodes in a row in a few days, so check Lifetime to catch it all. I have set the DVR to capture the episodes. I wanna see this now.

And yes, he needs to be locked up and his dick permanently deflated.

I've said the same thing. "Everyone in Chicago just does that". WHAT?! First, it's not just Chicago. Second, no people don't just fuck kids. Is child sexual abuse prevalent? Of course. And people forget that Jerry Lee Lewis, who was 22 years old, married his first cousin once removed (which is his first cousin's offspring), and she was thirteen years old. Robert is not the first person in music or movies to get some underage tail. He's just one who is getting called out for it. Yes, his ass should be in jail. He's scum, at best.

In the United States we have different rules on and who get punished. As long people (men) stay in their lane based on class and race....who's the killed, harmed or raped the public at large is indifferent.

Kelly's having sex with little girls has been know in Chicago for over 20 years, two Chicago journalist reported about Kelly's cruising JR. high-schools in Chicago.

Be careful what you say about Kelly cuz, you'll accused of bring down a black male. neutral

I finished episode 1 tonight, and am 2/3 into episode 2. I'm about to crawl out of my skin.

For everyone: Lifetime is playing this whole series Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, two new episodes per night totaling six. Each evening, they're playing the previous episodes beforehand, leading up to the new ones. So by tomorrow night, you can DVR all six shows. I think they start around noon or just after (eastern time) on Saturday and will play through to the last two episodes.

And I finally watched the four episodes that have aired, tonight. This one girl went to his trail because she was a fan, and he ended up fucking her, too!

You just reminded me of his VIBE magazine cover from the early 2000s with a caption that goes like “Guilty/Innocent? Or guilty for bing rich black & famous?” lol

PennyPurple said what I feel. Those bystanders who watched and were complacent/indifferent at best & protective of him at worst, should be taken accountable as well (espechially the parents who “willingly” pimped their children to him over money). I’m more pissed off at them because they gave him power & they allowed all of this to happen.

He ran & still run a sex mass cult, how could people be so passive to give one man such power over them & their children like that? I don’t get it. Why is he still being viciously protected & in the same breath, those children get accused for being “fast” or dumb shit like “can’t rape the willing”.

Can you believe that? I can't get over how these girls support R Kelly. I also can't get over how his employees never reported anything or quit. Money hungry fools.

And then he tried to frame his younger brother....

Once again, in the United States class, gender, and race play a major factor in how or judical system "works". As long as people stay (mostly men) in their own criminal lanes our institutions, our judically system more of than not, does nada. More importantly, men have shaped the the conversasion that violence of any kind is natural and should expected and sexual desires or sexual hatred/violence isn't their fault... the victim is lying or is to blame. (to your point)

The sentence highlighted above:We have some unwritten rules in the Black community about the conduct of Black men, you never open your mouth about any wrong doing or suspected wrong doing. It's as James Baldwin said, Black people are quick to point out the transgressions of white's while concealing our own transgressions. In real time this has now evolved into the "no snitch rule". confused Complitcty by the Chicago School System, Chicago P.D., th FBI and yes some in the Black community and some parents gave Kelly impunity. To the documentary point, keeping it real... the majority of black women are raped by men in their own families and a majority of black girls reported they've been sexual violated by the age of 16. One thing we don't know, how many young black boys are molested/raped and by whom? We are a community and a nation of liars, hypocrisy, and secrets. We need to stop lying, we lie too much.

One of the main reasons RKelly hasn’t been taken down is because these are teenaged women. That’s why it was overlooked for so long.

As far as charges, victims didn’t go to the police, Aaliyah’s parents never pushed charges and the girl in the tapes parents lied on the stand. The father apparently played on multiple RKelly albums and played in his band.

Thank you! That’s quite a perspective. I can’t imagine what those young ladies endure. My god, Aaliyah, it takes such a strong spirit to put a poker face after what she been through. Having to appease to such opportunistic family all in the name of maintaining a “good girl” all for the sake of respectability. I wonder if she signed a “gag contract” like the rest of those young girls. Adults are such evil greedy cunts.
