yup, this is a nice debut quite different from their other stuff in later years,
but it has it's own charm and indeed, that dreamy trance like state of some of
the songs is great.

i remember how surprised i was when the 'never gonna cry again' video popped

I LOVE this album! Their first 4 in particular are just incredible. In the Garden has a unique vibe courtesy of German krautrock heroes Conny Plank, who helped produce the record, and Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit of Can. Annie's voice is not as prominent as on subsequent releases, instead creeping in and out of the songs in more hushed tones. My favorite is "Take Me to Your Heart".

huge Eurythmics fan (though I was unable to catch them live EVER..... only chance was PEACETOUR which was WAY expensive for a High Schooler who's mom wouldn't let him get a job)

It's a great album.atmospheric rock.... Faves: Caveman head and the incredible REVENGE.

I remember famming out to this about a dozen years ago when Eurythmics came out with all of those remastered digipak CDs including b-sides.

Pretty awesome record indeed, that sadly went under the radar. It took me 12 years after becoming a Eurythmics fan to finally hear it and, wow! What a great surprise! Touch remains their masterpiece IMHO, but ITG was a remarkable debut.

I was wondering the other day whether Eurythmics was sinking into oblivion or if they were still remembered. I guess Sweet Dreams at least is still getting lots of airplay, but when one thinks Eurythmics was one of the most popular bands of the 80's, of how they were all over the place... Yet I have the feeling if you'd ask people which important 80's band they could name today, Eurythmics wouldn't come to their minds. Hopefully I am wrong?

i think it's partly because of their weird love/hate relationship with each other?
dave always seemed more open to promote and continue doing eurythmics gigs
than annie ever was.

then there was the 'peace' album and tour (both a bit underwhelming imo) and
finally the two new songs on the last greatest hits album (pretty solid tracks).

for the past year or so their facebook account has been posting a lot - i think it's
actually dave himself doing the posting. (sometimes the account promotes new
releases by his daughter).

there has also been video footage of storage boxes full of old eurythmics related
stuff in dave's appartment, around the time of his book release.

people on the facebook account keep asking for a rarities boxset or an outtakes
album, but it seems like they don't have too many since nothing ever popped up
on either of the remaster projects.

their albums have all been remastered and re-released on vinyl this year
and they did tiny little interview vignettes at the time. so it was cool to see both
of them sitting next to eacht other again and talking about their prime.

yet with the re-release of the albums in remastered form on vinyl there is still no
mention of rare/outtake material so i don't think there is much in the way of that.




if they'd kept a bit more in the spotlight over the years i'm sure people would
remember them more and cite their albums more often as classic 80s records.
because all of their albums are pretty great up to and including "we too are one"
imo. they deserve more recognition.

seems like annie really needed a break from everything dave and eurythmics at
the start and just did her own thing (and did it well) and then dave just went off
in many directions for all these different gigs/groups/albums etc. so they both
sort of ignored their past catalogue for too long imo. then when they got back in
the studio for the 'peace' project it was very meh.

they should have tried again imo. now, for example would be a perfect time as
they seem to be on relatively good terms again. it'd be very interesting to hear
what a eurythmics album would sounds like in 2020. but a true eurythmics LP,
not that watered down, acoustic blabla. but full on electronic strangeness.

well what do you know, eurythmics made me rant again

just tried listening to 'peace' again and it's still as i remember, dull dull dull.

the least eurythmics album of them all. it's just so incredibly dull

and it's almost 20 years old where does the time go?

seriously, they really should get back together for one final album because
as it is they closed a fantastic run of records with something that is at best
a very mediocre collection of b-sides to late period annie lennox side project.

I like PEACE... a bit more than WE TOO ARE ONE, which apart from the singles didn't have much that doesn't sound horribly dated. tracks 1-5 on WE TOO are pretty great... I never dug Revival much

PEACE on the other hand had all great tracks excluding "I Want it All" and "Power to The Meek" (at least in my ears)

Oddly enough... the "remaster" of PEACE was also HEAVILY remixed/remastered... much to its detriment I think. Sounded pretty different..... how do I know? ...I listened to it on youtube. I had RE-bought all of them except for that one. I DID NOT like the removal of the original inserts, lack of lyrics...etc.. but they DID look pretty beautiful...photos n all.

I've never heard an album so completely remixed other than that and MEGADETH - RISK... (which was ALSO *better on the original*)..... Is that called GEORGE LUCASING something?

it's always interesting to see how different people like different albums from the same group/artist.

Eurythmics are one of very few artists who never released an album I didn't REALLY like. So despite my rankings, I feel they all are quite good.
