The modt profound artist of the last two decades is...

đŸ”„đŸ”„đŸ”„Kanye WestđŸ”„đŸ”„đŸ”„
There has not been any other artists in the 21st century that comes close to Ye. He started out as a fine producer. Wanted to be a top 10 rapper and people told him he couldn’t do it. He proved them wrong. Proving people wrong has been the the most significant cornerstone of his entire career. Then they told him he couldn’t be a top 10 pop icon. Then an artist. Then a musician. Then they told him he couldn’t get into fashion. He’s on track to become a đŸ”„đŸ”„đŸ”„billionaiređŸ”„đŸ”„đŸ”„ soon.

The fact is people can criticize his character all they want. But they can’t deny the impact he’s had in the 21st century. If everyone had Kanye’s attitude and outlook on life, then the world would be a better place.

Ok then Skippy. You tell me which musician that emerged in the 21st century who’s been more influential and more iconic than Ye

I share some of RJO's skepticism, but I truly want to see the answers to this because I can't say there isn't an argument for 'Ye.

That can be an indictment on popular music in the 21st century.

But still.

A lot of people use the word "stan" because of Slim Shady and it's in the dictonary now. Sounds like a big influence on culture to me. lol

I don't know.
Micky said that the cast of Glee are the "Yugest and biggest artists" since 2000 to emerge.

In terms of influence on music and sound in general.
I think Pharrell, Kelis and Chad actually hold that title.
Kaleidoscope album is one of the most groundbreaking and has had the most influence on modern pop music.

Dare I say it's the modern day equivalent of "Thriller"

I actually like Kanye Wests music alot.
But if this is about influence on modern pop music.
Then Kelis's Kaleidoscope album is"Thriller"

Really, I don't think Kanye is influential at all except if you count the times he has packed a hissy fit because he did win a grammy and I even liked some of his early albums before he disappeared up his own ass.

.

I find his music cringeworthy, formulaic and now blinged out nonsense. It is like all modern hip hop and rap music, complete garbage. If getting grills in your mouth, doing drugs, treating women liek dirt and acting like a general clown are influential things - then yes. But sheer muscial influence no.

.

My choice for a most profound artist is at least some one who sings, not talks to a beat, plays instruments, can compose songs and speak on more meaningful topics than how many women he can bunt, how big his career/ego/bank balance/jewels/label crap and posse are, how much a bad mf he is and how cool he is.

.

And the OP's and their trollets had the nerve to laugh at me. eek

.

Also can they point out the part saying the artist had to have come from the past two decades, it says who has had the most impact, but nothing about when they started. Basically if you are going to attack someone over their perceived intelligence, first make sure every thing you say and do in your attack is above reproach - In yo language homie - "I know you are, you said you are but what am I" lol

.

I can see why Kanye West has so much influence on the braindead morons who like his music, but anyone with an IQ above that of a raisin can see through his superficial bullshit.

.

If we are restricted to artists emerging from the past 20 years, I can't say anyone as most of the music is vacuous rubbish - I guess Adele maybe as her music is well written, she can sing and she is quite down to earth as a person.

I got plenty good loving for ya baby
