I think sometimes people read too much into her lyrics. Just because she writes a sad heartbroken song doesn't mean it's 100% autobiographical. I know this sounds like a terrible thing to say, but I think a lot of artists make better music out of painful sad experiences than happy ones. To me when artists are happy in their lives their music becomes a bit boring. I guess it's just my personality, but I don't really love happy uplifting songs. A perfect example is Tori Amos whom I love. I'm glad she's happily married with her daughter now, but her recent music is so bland. I miss the troubled passionate Tori of the 90's!

To me, a good song is a good song. I don't buy into the whole dated or being ahead or behind the curve thing. It's hard to be fresh now, because as soon as a new sound comes out it spreads so quickly online unlike in the 90's. People hear something so quickly that the whole ahead or behind the curve thing is kind of passe now and really the wrong way to look at music.
I'm kind of tired of the whole 80's thing. Yes, Madonna is an 80's icon, but since she came up in that time I think it would be going backwards to try to do any type of 80's sound. I really like the idea of her incorporating some kind of world music influence but mixed with a dance sound.

I did love that mashup into LDLHA. I am going to bet for $1000 that those songs on heartbreak on Rebel Heart were about him just as much as Miles Away was about Guy Richie. She has been semi autobiographical in her songs since Bedtime Stories. I agree that the more pain you go through themore creative your outcome is. Look at Taylor Swift making a career out of writing about her exes. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

The thing is....I don't really think that there is any way that Madonna can be "ahead of the curve",musically. There's no more ground to be broken. She's a pop/dance artist and there just really isn't anything new, bold or groundbreaking going on in that genre.I hate to say this, but music is pretty much at a standstill right now and it's been this way for at least the last ten years or so.The only thing I expect from Madonna (and any other veteran artists that I like) is simply a good album.I don't expect it to be some big, epic, groundbreaking album that totally reinvents the wheel, lol.

overall,I think the Pharrell tracks are a much better fit for Madonna, but the album's best track is the Timbaland-produced "Miles Away".

I agree. As I said before if anyone comes up with something new, it immediately gets spread online so by the time you finish an album it's considered old hat by people. It's hard to be underground and undiscovered anymore.
I really want her to do a world music African influence. That has been done before, but something slightly different for her, but still very Madonna.

What do you think the next tour will be like? Will it still be an arena tour or the smaller venue intimate thing she has talked about?
This is probably a minority opinion but I like the way her last couple of tours are with the mix between newer and older songs and how she blends her past with her present. I like how she tries to reinvent older songs although not all of the reinventions always work, but at least she tries to be creative.
I think a lot of people probably want her to do a more traditional greatest hits tour where she just plays the hits like the original versions. I'm sure she will be pressured into doing that by promoters or whoever, but I hope she resists and sticks to her vision. I know a lot of people like that, but I find 80s artists who do that kind of tiresome.
One of my favorite parts of the last tour was when she did True Blue on the ukulele. I wish she could dig up a few slightly forgotten hits like that instead of the obvious ones. She has a lot of hits but people tend to remember certain ones more than others, usually the ones that had memorable videos. [Edited 7/24/18 11:07am]

come on,man...it's 2018 No one is doing anything new, bold,or unique anymore. It's unrealistic to expect a 60-year old veteran artist to break new ground.I understand that, for much of her career,Madonna has been known as pop's Wonder Woman (lol) but we can't expect her to break new ground these days.

honestly, this time around I'd like her to do a fun greatest hits tour. It's long overdue.

I don't! I told you I had a minority opinion. She has toured frequently and most of her biggest hits she has done multiple times albeit not all in the same show. Can you think of one really big hit she hasn't done? I'm sure she will feel pressured by fans and promoters to do that, but I hope she resists it. She would be just like all the older artists then.

Yes,she has added a lot of old songs to her recent tours, but what about “Angel”,”Causing A Commotion”,”Live To Tell”,”Keep It Together”,”Cherish”,”Take A Bow”,”The Power Of Goodbye” and numerous other hits? A greatest hits tour would finally give her the chance to perform those songs again. Most fans would disagree with me,but I think it’s time for Madonna to reflect on her awesome career and rest on her laurels for awhile....celebrate her past.Esrlier in this thread,I mentioned that she should write her autobiography. How cool would it be if she followed it with a fun greatest hits tour?

I said big hits. Most of those are more minor hits. Live to Tell was performed on Confessions, Take A Bow on the Asian dates of Rebel Heart. Madonna didn't get where she was by resting on her laurels. I would like her to write an autobiography, but she has always been a bit more private especially about her personal life. I don't know if she would want her kids to know some of her more personal things especially as they are relatively young.
Evening with the Queen just sounds so big headed. Yes, sometimes she may call herself a Queen kind of jokingly, but overall I think she keeps the ego thing under control. I doubt you will find a global superstar as relatively down to earth as she is. It's like sometimes she doesn't realize what an amazing unique artist she is. I actually love that about her. Celebrating herself and resting on her laurels has the potential to come off as too egotistical and blowing your own horn in an obvious tacky way. [Edited 7/24/18 19:16pm]

regarding a new album.. i hope i will love it.. people bag on her (especially on prince.org sometimes!) but she is incredible... she always has a strong concept, a clear POV and it is usually perfectly exectuted.
i mean, she tops her debut with like a virgin. she tops like a virgin with true blue. she tops true blue with like a prayer and then tops everything with VOGUE!
then just when she is down for the count.. Ray of Light...
her run was unbeliveable and whether or not you like her... you have GOT to respect her longevity..
ok.. new album - please more songs like the song Rebel Heart - why wasnt that a single??? less songs with rappers, havent we suffered enough?
TOUR - she should really pull out some deeper, lesser known tracks that her more hardcore fans love.. not just deep 'hits'... for example.. give us PROMISE TO TRY! could you imagine if she whipped that out??
and maybe .. should it not be so 'conceptual' .. like a gypsy inspired section, a 50's inspired section, a last supper inspired section...... can it just be a string of awesome songs held together by great choreography rather than a forced theme?

Remember last year or so when some Hollywood studio bought the rights to a Madonna biopic that would focus on her early years in New York? She was pissed about it.I believe that if she herself would write her biography,Hollywood would be very interested in turning it into a major motion picture. That's why I want her to tell her story now....before someone else tries to tell it.Her story is very interesting and deserves to be told properly...by HER....the sooner, the better.

I disagree. At this point,Madonna deserves the chance to celebrate herself and her accomplishments. She's worked so hard for all of these years....one of the few 80s superstars who is still releasing new music and doing big tours on a regular basis. She truly has nothing to prove.I'd like her to oversee remasters of classic albums like Like A Prayer and possibly put together a career-spanning box set...along with the autobiography,of course it's not tacky or egotistical to do these things.Sadly,I feel that Prince didn't take the time to do these things and now it's all being done, but he's not around to be a part of it

Dude, a remaster of Like A Prayer is waaaaaaay overdue! I was gutted when her remasters stopped at True Blue and when the LAP 25th anniversary went by in 2014 without anything. www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

A lot of fans get really excited about remasters. I'm not an audophile or a collector so it doesn't excite me in the same way. I was wondering though are there songs from the LAP session that were never released or haven't been heard? For me to be excited about buying an anniversary edition, it would have to have something I don't already have like previously unheard tracks, new pictures or maybe some liner notes written by her. Something.
I personally like a balance between hits and newer stuff. A rare sprinkling would not be enough, but a greatest hits with no new stuff would be too far in the opposite direction. She has played Music a lot, but actually Hung Up not so often. I think that would be a great song to do on her next tour.
I don't think I would like chronological. That way you would always know what's coming next so it takes away the surprise element. That's why I never liked it when artists play their whole albums from beginning to end. I like how she does themes so I think if she did do a greatest hits tour it should have themes like her regular tours.
Totally agreed, I don't want her to be a heritage act like the Stones.
