Unsung Back For 12th Season On Feb. 18 With it's most boring line-up yet. The only one I'm even remotely interested in is The Boys. Not sure what Shirley Ceaser is doing here. She is a living Gospel legend.

They saved the best for last imo.
Deborah Cox and Brand Nubian are the episodes I look forward to most. Deborah one of the best female vocalist in the business. Brand Nubian was one of the best rap groups in the business and came out in 1992 kicking ass but inner turmoil and conflict thwarted the groups success and led to members going solo before reuniting in 1998 for the awesome Foundation album. These guys didn't rap about bullshit or gimmicks to sell records. These guys were serious lyrical Mic gangsters along the lines of Gang Starr. Nothing to do with Gangsta rap. Grand Puba, Lord Jamar, and Sadat X were my dudes. [Edited 2/7/18 16:40pm] Don't laugh at my funk

While none of those particularly appeal to me, sometimes it's cool to learn about artists I'm not familiar with. I wish I still got that channel.

I agree. It seems as if they have already covered all the great/exciting artists and so now they're just scraping the bottom of the barrel. From this list,I'm probably only gonna watch the Blue Magic episode. One of my favorite 70s soul groups.

Been disappointed the past few seasons. They're getting more current. Blue Magic and Shirley Caesar are the only truly old school acts here. Everyone else is (Silk, the Bius, Deborah Cox, Brand Nubian) basically 90s and after artist and Avant began in 2000. Trick Daddy who I like, just had a doc on BET as part of Slip-n-Slide Records. He waa 45 minutes of the documentary. PRINCE: Always and Forever

I'm most interested in The Boys and Shirley Caesar. I agree this is not a very strong lineup. I guess they are running out of artists to feature:(

There are a whole slew of artists from the 70's, 80's and 90's they could feature. I have a feeling many of them have been approached but declined. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

I'm interested in the Blue Magic, S. Caeser, and The Boys episodes. * Side note- there's an old episode of Soul Train where Blue Magic does "Sideshow" and the lead singer does one of the coolest, yet most ackward, Robot-dancing during the intro. Check it out on YouTube when you get a chance.

I remember a few weeks ago BET had a poll of artists to vote and Unsung on Facebook. There were a lot of them. I said yes to Switch, Starpoint, and the Moments. I said no to Carl Thomas and Koffee Brown. Koffee Brown really? Hell there are a slew of tv commercials that lasted longer than Koffee Brown. Don't laugh at my funk

Let's be real, ....a BUNCH of these groups/artists weren't all that great, and they didn't have a repertoire. There's a reason other than circumstantial conflicts that some of them didn't "blow up" they had one hit song or album. In a different genre, I'd compare it to SUPERTRAMP who had ONE great album and one fair one, with the rest all being absolute crap. (*I've bothered to listen to em) Next thing u know it's gonna be an episode about AWESOME DRE (*actually my suggestion WOULD MAKE A GREAT EPISODE) i love awesome dre. Found him in the dollar bin while working at the wherehouse. I meant a lesser group. ...like DUICE & J-KWON ♫"Trollin, Trolling! We could have fun just trollin'!"♫

This is who I'd like to see from that time: You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
