I'm not really a huge U2 fan but this is one of their songs that I don't mind. IMO it's such an obvious nod to both Prince & David Bowie's singing styles.

for as many motr rock albums they have made since, i wish they would have made just one
more album in the whole 'achtung'/'zooropa'/'pop' era. it's funny how they managed to just
not sound like that at all anymore. well sad, really. still, we got some amazing tunes and at
least one of the best albums of all time in "achtung baby".

I love zooropa had so many good songs. Daddy’s gonna pay for your crashed car, stay, numb. I feel like pop was there first real critical failure and it hit them
Hard. So they’ve played it safe since all that you can’t leave behind (their last great album imo)
