Given that Stevie Wonder won AOTY 3 times in the 70s (with many songs of social commentary included), I don't hink you can chalk it up simply to "racism". And as someone who was around in the 1970s, I don't think there was LESS racism then as opposed to now...

What the Grammys DO have is a bias towards musicianship and songwriting, and a lot of the older members don't see Hip-Hop/Rap acts (or even Beyonce) as "real musicians" or "real songwriters", with their reliance on sampling, programming, and 10 writers listed on every song.

And we have a winner.

Let me just say it right here and now. The exact reason that I did not watch was specifically because of the Grammys givng such a toxic person a platform. To me she is just as bad as Insane Clown Posse or Tyler the Creator. Garbage.

Insult to injury that she isn't even fit to kiss Bruno Mars feet IMO. As much as I like him I could not stomach him onstage with her.

If I could single handedly ruin her career, I would.

What the out of touch Grammy organizers do not understand is that millennials do not buy music for the most part, neither do they sit down on Sunday nights to watch awards shows. It's the older people who spend the money because we are used to supporting our favorite artists financially. Younglings either download stuff for free or rent it from a streaming service. lol

Therefore when they cater to the young acts the older demographic turns the channel.

I usually watch Jimmy Fallon but I could not sit through the bird noises so I turned the channel.

As sillly as he is, even Jimmy was looking at her like she was mental.

Not out of touch, just not amused by minstrels. She and Cardi may as well be wearing blackface. Sorry you can't see that.

Good for him because Dr. Boyce tore that ass up after that fucked up Mountain Dew commercial he did and got him fired from the project. lol

Shit was almost as bad as Russell Simmons Harriet Tubman rape skit.

Tyler The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt should be BIG stars by now.... both of them are incredibly talented MCs, and Tyler has all kinds of presence and charisma...

No amount of low-key ageist shade is going to itimidate me into changing my position. The good thing about not being with the times is that you no longer GAF about co-signing fuckery in order to be accepted by the "cool" kids. lol

Proud of my age and capacity to evolve beyond people whose only claim to fame is their willingness to demean us for fun and profit. There are certain energies that you do not take into your spirit....thought you knew about that kind of thing bro.

I don't care for Tyler personally, but 2freaky is right -- his last album is legit. I have a couple of tracks from it.

No one over here is listening to Lil Uzi Vert coon rap for exmple but I am up on the know on social media. U dont have to try and be cool to be cool, you just are and either you always had it or you don't. Fallon just couldn't keep up for example because he just not on it. Don't judge things one knows nothing about. Its a scroll away from it all.

I thought Lady Gaga sounded amazing. Cardi and Bruno had a lot of energy but Finesse the song is just fun, not amazing. Gambino was good. However, i’m Getting really tired of U2’s “fight the man” shtick. I don’t wanna see Bono with a megaphone in hand for the millionth time!! lol

Yeah Bono needs to revisit his schtick because "fight the man" doesn't seem too authentic when it costs hundreds of dollars for nosebleeds at a U2 show. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford one of his shows! lol lol lol

Trolls be gone!

I watched it.. the only things I thought were worthy of my attention were:

1) Childish Gambino's performance. I never listened to his music before but he's really talented.

2) Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee - It was nice to see latin music getting airtime at the non-latin grammies.

3) Lady Gaga did good

4) I wanted to like Sam Smith's song but his high notes sounded off to me

5) Wild Thoughts was ok, but I'm so sick of fucking DJ Khaled

6) Gary Clark & Jon Batiste were good giving the tribute to Fats Domino and Chuck Berry

7) Pink was aight, I like her performance better than Keshas

8) Ben Platt & Patti Lupone's singing were the bomb, I love Patti even though I don't know who she is.

9) I could not get into Elton and Miley at ALL. I had to change the channel

10) I didnt know the Sza song but she did ok, I like that her songs are always unique somehow

11) The Tom Petty tribute was ok as well.

Change it one more time..
