FLEETWOOD MAC "SAY YOU WILL"

I bought this disc yesterday and it is incredible! It is so great to hear that energy between lyndsey and stevie again. out of the 18 songs on the CD, i have fallen in love with all but 2. The last track, Goodbye Baby, is just amazing...stevie never sounded so good. And the guitar work on this record is mindblowing. Songs like Miranda and Murrow Turning Over In His Grave are just fantastic.
I don't know how many FM fans are on the org but if you are here and you haven't bought this yet, get on it! It is great. 16 years is a long time and there is a lot of emotion on this record. Just the fact that the title song was written for Christine (about doing it one more time with the band) says how personal the album really is. This band has so much history and it is all laid out on this record!

Miranda is SLAMMING! Dare I say almost funky? The new album is brilliant and I can't wait to see these songs live.

Oh I care!! nod Can't stop listening to it. I miss Christine's voice on the harmonies but I love the album. Maybe Goodbye Baby will replace Songbird as the show closer? Hmm...

P.S.
I love how they closed the show last tour with The Farmer's Daughter, those harmonies were to die for!

I am cautious on this one from the Mac. I really like their 70's stuff...especially Christine McVie's songs.

I do like Lindsay Buckinghams solo album from the early 90's...is it anything like that?

Stevie is good sometimes (Riannon, Gold Dust Woman, Silver Springs) but sometimes she bugs me (all her solo stuff and 80s Mac songs)

I'm just speechless. It's TUSK with a cocaine high-ha just kidding. Welcome back Fleetwood Mac! I'll see u on Friday onthe TOday show!

EVERYBODY FINDS OUT is the best song on the record--JMO

Hey Jay--Wanna COME? THe songis growing on me-but Murrow and Say Goodbye are still my Lindsey faves...

Silver Girl sucks-Stevie has a catalogue of demos and she puts this crap about SHeryl Crow on there? Don't get me wrong, I love Sheryl, but it doesn't highlight Stevie as a songwriter.

Its quite good, I was a little worried at first becuase "Illume 9/11" is one of the worst songs on the disc (you'd think as a tribute the 9/11 victims it would be really good but it just doesn't work for me. I really prefer Stevie's songs to Lindsey's, which in some cases are too expermental for my tastes ("Red Rover"). I think the best song on there is "Everybody Finds Out" which kind of sounds like a Stevie solo record (Rick Nowels, who worked on some of her stuff, wrote the music). Lindsey has a lot of good songs on there too but I might have to go with "Peacekeeper" as his best. "Goodbye" is very haunting.

I was wondering what part Christine played on the disc beucase she is listed on the CD as a musician but it didn't say what she did. I was hoping she had one or two songs on the CD but 9 a piece by Stevie and Lindsey is great as well. Its like buying 2 solo albums with 9 tracks each and you get to here the Mac work their magic on them. Its a pretty great disc and I highly recommend. Too bad most people are buying Kelly Clarkson instead!

I still have not been able to stop listening! I did watch the Today show (mostly looking out for you, purplegypsy) but I wasn't terribly impressed with the performance. It started out with Go Your Own Way, but it was really really rough sounding. Lyndsey was way out of key and the first chord sounded like a string broke. The rest of the show was ok, but since i wasn't there in person I only got to see what was aired. I know when Prince played the today show it went on for the length of a full show practically...i wonder if they did the same. It sure was cold out today!

Say You Will is damned good. Very different, yet you can still tell its the Mac. Lindsey's production is top notch, and proves that time hasn't dulled his creative edge at all. Stevie sounds good overall (a bit rough on "Illume", but otherwise good).

I do miss Christine's harmonies, but the other guys really make up for her abscence. Lindsey's guitar playing is incredible all over this disc. Very impressive. I'm a little peeved that there is only one Texas date on the tour itenerary so far, I really want to see them live, especially touring for this album.

So far I've only heard "Peacekeeper"...and I hesitate to form an opinion after hearing a song only once (sometimes I change my mind after repeated listenings), but I can honestly say it made me interested in hearing more from the album. And I didn't think I'd be interested at all. I still dig Buckingham's quirkiness.

Buckingham's as quirky as he ever was and Stevie's songs (as usual) benefit from his production."Peacekeeper" is Ok,but not really representative of what the rest of the album sounds like.If you like classic Mac ,than you should enjoy this (it's a bit "Tusk"ier than Rumours tho lol)
It's a lot to absorb (18 trax).I thought I would miss Christine McVies presence but (so far) the excitement of having Buckingham(and his guitar!) back seems to have made this point moot.(she does sing back-up on 2 trax)

lyndsey is producing this one. the sound is very reminiscent of Tusk. there are 9 lyndsey songs and 9 stevie songs and their styles range from catchy tunes to twisted images. I think it is a pretty intense record with some softer stuff just when you need it. If you've been thinking about getting I don't think you'd be disappointed with the purchase.

By chance do you know which tracks they are that Christine sings on. Someone said they thought that "Bleed To Love Her" was one.

I read that she's on "Steal Your heart Away" & "Bleed To Love Her".I believe Buckingham stated that he had recorded her parts for his then solo album long before it was decided to do this album instead.

With their drama almost 30 years behind them I'm not surprised it's more on the "Tusk" side of things than the "Rumours" side of things. biggrin

Yeah, earlier today I looked up the track listing and was surprised that there are almost 20 songs on there. And to me Lindsey has always been an underrated guitarist. I've always wondered how John McVie was/is doing, since the 80s he was struggling with an alcohol problem, but I haven't heard anything in years.

nod Just like Jeff Beck.

For anyone who's about to have a knee jerk reaction; I'm not saying Buckingham is as accomplished as Beck on the guitar.
