I usually listen to the same ones--Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Johny Mathis, and Nat King Cole for the standards. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

My favourite Christmas song to listen to is Blue Christmas. I don't care if it's the Elvis one or the Shakin Stevens cover. Both are brilliant. I'm also a big fan of Last Christmas by Wham. Some others I enjoy are Come Home For Christmas by Jon Bon Jovi, Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin Stevens, All Alone on Christmas by Darlene Love and Merry Fucking Christmas by Denis Leary. Those are songs I enjoy listening to the most at Christmas. But they're not "the best". In my opinion, the absolute best Christmas song ever is December Song by George Michael. Two years in a row I started threads on here to explain how much that song means to me. I don't intend to do it again a third time but let's just say that it's a great song which seems to sum up my own personal experiences perfectly.

Every year, at least once with a cup of cocoa, its time for "A Motown Christmas" and "Jingle Bell Jazz". . Jingle Bell Jazz (re-issued as Christmas Jazz) is a collection of jazz versions of Christmas songs recorded between 1959 and 1962 by some of the most popular artists on the Columbia label. It was released on October 17, 1962.
Side One
Side Two
The 1973 (Harmony ) and 1980 (Columbia) reissues replace side 2, track 3 with "Deck the Halls" by Herbie Hancock, recorded in 1969.

Another nice collection is Christmas In The Holy Land, featuring a variety of ancient songs from Orthodox, Coptic, Catholic and other churches in Jerusalem. The recordings date back to the 1950's and 60's I think. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Also LaFace Christmas has a few good cuts (Toni Braxton, Outkast) and TLC's classic "Sleigh Ride". Last year I happened upon a Starbucks during Holiday season that was blaring Sleigh Ride and it made me wanna break out the 90s dance steps. Its a cute throwback, I wasn't too jazzed about it back in their heyday but now its got a bit of a vintage to it. if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2

I'm not a big "Christmas person", but I've softened a bit to the holiday in recent years. Last year, I believe, I bought Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings' Holiday Soul Party, and I loved it. Will definitely play it a few times this December too If you will, so will I

I am definitely getting that Sharon Jones album this year. Once when living in Miami I took a Christmas road trip with a friend to the Keys and we listened to the Beach Boys Christmas Album. It's kind of an xmas guilty pleasure. Same with the Monkees tune listed above. [Edited 10/20/17 17:22pm] if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2
