This is one of his coolest tracks ever! I liked the video with his Serious Moonlight concert. Gotta love that yellow suit.

It was produced by Nile Rodgers. Everything he does is Chic. That album is completely his creation.

well... except for the songwriting and singing, of course wink but anyway, if that's the case, i guess i can blame him for derailing Bowie creatively for nearly all of the 80's biggrin

Well, I don't think on a song like 'Let's Dance', for example, the songwriting contributed much, to the overall impact of the record.
Don't blame Nile for Bowie's demise. That was his best album in years!!

really? i've never really liked the song as it is on record. i've heard him perform the original arrangement of it (before Nile Rogers got his hands on it) and i actually like that version. i've never been a fan of the recorded version of this song.

it was a good album, but it wasn't even as good as the one that preceded it. and it set him on a path of creative bankruptcy that lasted almost a decade.

who? Rodgers or Bowie? i assume you mean Bowie. yeah, he and Reznor toured together and Reznor remixed a few of his singles. but this was after Bowie had gotten himself back on track...

Modern Love was the first time I heard Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Let's Dance was the first time I heard him soloing. Stevie Ray is GOD.

Albert King said SRV "stole every lick" from him, for the Let's Dance solo.

One of his best pop songs but not his last masterpiece! You have not heard Bowie's album "Heathen" if you think that! It's amazing! I love his cover of "Cactus". It should have been a single! He preformed it on TV live very often. Should have been a much bigger disc!

Could David B any cooler in this video...taking 2 the stage in a cannery yellow suite that only Prince himself can rock in. It's a solid Bowie song...gives me a good feeling when I hear it come on*

Agreed - Love Bowie.
Think my fave lyrics of His are from Loving The Alien:

Watching them come and go
The Templars and the Saracens
They're traveling the holy land
Opening telegrams

Torture comes and torture goes
Knights who'd give you anything
They bear the cross of Coeur de Leon
Salvation for the mirror blind

But if you pray all your sins are hooked upon the sky
Pray and the heathen lie will disappear

Prayers they hide the saddest view
(Believing the strangest things, loving the alien)
And your prayers they break the sky in two
(Believing the strangest things, loving the alien)
You pray til the break of dawn
(Believing the strangest things, loving the alien)
And you'll believe you're loving the alien
(Believing the strangest things, loving the alien)

Thinking of a different time
Palestine a modern problem
Bounty and your wealth in land
Terror in a best laid plan

Watching them come and go
Tomorrows and the yesterdays
Christians and the unbelievers
Hanging by the cross and nail

Still sends shivers up my spine - now more than ever of course.

Oh yeah - and although I dont think that the song itself is anywhere NEAR a Bowie 'classic' I DO think that the production on 'Let's Dance' is just the BEST Ive ever heard: it just shines - leaps outta those speakers! I cant fault it.

Bowie = worship

great song, underrated album. i always thought that Let's Dance was a sequal of sorts to Young Americans... very funky, soulful pop with a touch of Bowie trippiness.
