We have another orger who recently did a thread like this: comparing the two fanbases.I really don't see the point in coming to this site to complain about something you read on another site Just let it go.All artists have crazy fans (along with the good,respectful fans).Just ignore the posts that offend you and don't comment.Problem solved.

This is coming from what I have seen being a fan of both.

I think this has very little to do with prince, and more with an unhealthy justification of mj fandom and insecurity combined. But also, how is this different from sports teams fighting over the opponent. Psychologically it makes sense, but truly opens a can of worms. I don't think mj himself would have even agreed with this behaviour, so I'm not sure what drives fan communities (of any artist) to behave like that.

One time someone compared prince to britney spears years ago. I really hope that was a bad attempt at sarcasm.

I agree with the OP - being on this and 2 Michael forums, us Prince fans are much nicer, most MJ fans are fanatical and have rose coloured blinders on. One of the sites MJJCOmmunity bans the use of the word "Wacko Jacko" and anyone suggesting he may have been guilty not of molesting kids, but spending too much time with them is banned. What else, they think the Estate is the lving satan.

I find MJ fans get aggressive real quick if you quote anything even slightly questionable Many believe he was 100% lucid to the second of his death, and resent anyone saying the following.

1. Suggesting he had any plastic surgery beyond a few nose jobs.

2. Suggesting he liked kids too much, especially male kids.

3. Suggesting he was asexual, gay, bisexual or a paedophile - Michael was 100% straight.

5. Quoting anything by J. Randy Taraborelli

6. Suggesting his paternity of the 3 kids was in question.

7. Suggesting he was anything other than 100% normal.

9. Suggesting any other artist was better than him - especially Prince.

10. Comparing or mentioning Prince in any post (I did it all the time).

11. Suggesting he took any kind of drug ever.

Hence why I left MJJ Community and are going off MJJ Forum, it started okay, but some of the crazies from the first site have wandered across and its becoming a fanatic zone. I call these fans MISIS - as they have a fanatical devotion to Michael Jackson.

I have heard of the forum being compared to a cult I can see why...

I definitely think it's something that goes beyond who the artist's are and pretty toxic behaviour not unlike a playground or work environment, just another manifestation of human dynamics as a response to public figures and trying to feel powerful in response to the powerlessness when pit against public figures if you ask me

You aren't gonna find meaningful and mature conversations on most Facebook music groups. There are SOME good MJ forums on Facebook like The Michael Jackson Archives, The Jacksons Music Club and other forums such as MyMJJForum (started by the Org's very own MattyJam), but yeah...stay away from the Facebook groups for the most part.

As someone who's read people laughing and saying "prince won" when Michael died in '09 or called names like "pedo lover" because I'm a fan of MJ, I think it's safe to say both fanbases have individuals who have a inferiority complex.

Both fanbases, at their core, are great communities for fans and have wonderful people but also have toxic individuals who should be avoided. It's best not to compare and not to sound rude (and I apologize if I do), I don't see the purpose in complaining about one fanbase's behavior on another fanbase's forum...

Saying "most" fans are toxic is bit of a stretch. It honestly sounds like you've been immersed into the immature extreme side on places like Facebook
