the joy of Jill Scott
‘It’s the clearest definition of creative freedom I have ever heard. I was 16 and went to see the film Under The Cherry Moon and fell in love. The soundtrack went from rock to computerized blues to jazz to pop and classical. I grew up listening to jazz and blues, to Ella Fitzgerald and Hendrix and, sure, I loved Bach and Mozart. But prince came along and amalgamated them all. The writing was so descriptive and colourful. I used to stay up and listen to the album over and over again on headphones. When everyone else was outside playing and running on a Saturday afternoon, I’d be locked in my bedroom or sat on my porch listening to the LP, and I’d be immediately transported away from all the problems in my neighbourhood to the French Riviera, where the film was set.
Anyone who would say this about Prince & the Revolution's PARADE has my respect. Her music reminds me of the 90s, even though she came out in the 2000s Representing the East Coast & Philadelphia

"The Way" Woke up this morning with a smile on my face
Jumped out of bed, took a shower, dressed, cleaned up my place Made me some breakfast, toast, 2 scrambled eggs, grits Grabbed my keys, grabbed my purse, grabbed my jacket Off to work, beaming all the way down 3rd Is it the way you love me baby? Is it the way you love me baby? (Yeah) Four thirty, can't wait to get home Nah, girl I got somethang else to do (Damn Jill, don't be frontin' on your girls for real) Go 'head, really get your groove on Cause tonight my man's coming through (Oh word) We gonna have to connect some other time As much as I like to shake my thang on the dance floor I got another nasty, freaky just right way in mind Tonight I'm gonna beat the high score Is it the way you love me baby? (Yeah) Is it the way you love me baby? (Baby) Is it the way you love me baby? (Is it, is it the way) Is it the way you love me baby?

I've been wondering about the complexity
You're physically in this, but how could we tell
I've been wondering about the complexity
When your boyfriend's in town, it's bound to be trouble, Love
I've been wondering about the complexity
When your boyfriend's in town, it's bound to be trouble, Love
I've been wondering about the complexity
I used to come into the party and stand around
I've been wondering about the complexity
When your boyfriend's in town, it's bound to be trouble, Love
I've been wondering about the complexity

4th track off Robert Glasper Experiment’s album, Black Radio 2. The track features R&B singer Jill Scott. It is their first collaboration.
you always come
I don't even have to question
when I call, you come.

Here's one of my faves from, "Who is Jill Scott?"... - - - I thought this joint was a sleeper. Not meant for radio but an album cut that kept me coming back for it's hypnotic groove and ever smooth vocals from Ms. Scott. - It's so funny hearing how she studied Prince because I always love how she's limitless with her voice and style. Jill can sing whatever the hell she wants.

I love Jill very much. But currently, my grandson has taken to singing the Le Boom Vente Suite several times a day, starting early in the morning until bedtime. With a very healthy set of lungs. It's been going on for weeks now.

This was one of the standouts for me when I first got the album. I listened to this one more than everything on the album. But such a great album beginning to end
Slowly, surely, I'll walk away from Caught up in a maze of love, the crazy, crazy love
I just don't know where I should go So, slowly, surely, I'll walk away from But, slowly, surely, I'll walk away from I just don't know where I should go, no So, slowly, surely, I'll walk away from Caught up in the maze of love, the crazy craze of love
I just don't know where to go So, slowly, surely, I'll walk away from Slowly, surely, I'll walk away from Slowly surely, I'll walk away from

Jill Scott's version of Randy Crawfords 'Street Life'?
...forget it, let's call it a day, its a wrap. “It means finding the very human narrative of a man navigating between idealism and pragmatism, faith and politics, non- violence, the pitfalls of acclaim as the perils of rejection” - Lesley Hazleton on the first Muslim, the prophet.

There are way too many great songs by Jill Scott to list.
It all starts here though, This also happens to be one of the best songs of all time. “It means finding the very human narrative of a man navigating between idealism and pragmatism, faith and politics, non- violence, the pitfalls of acclaim as the perils of rejection” - Lesley Hazleton on the first Muslim, the prophet.

I love Jill Scott. Since day 1. She's one of the few artists who I will buy every album upon release. Although, I wasn't a big fan of 'Woman', I look forward to every new release. Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

. Jill Scott also wrote on You Got Me, Erykah Badu ended up on the single/album version for better visibility when The Roots crew were about to hit the "big time". if it was just a dream, call me a dreamer 2
