Level 42

Does anyone else dig them or is it a terribly shameful thing to admit? I'm only 21 so I always liked them as a kid when they were at their commercial singles peak, but my mum loves them, so I kind of forgot about them on those grounds because she likes Ricky Martin and Boyzone, so it MUST be wrong duh

I love all that unashamed pop music created by genuine talents who don't have credibility at the back of their minds whenever they create something.

woot!

Thank you so much for bringing this band up. I had just seen the video for "Something About You" and was in a jazz/funk vibe. These guys are so cool and yet so underrated. They were one of the best jazz/funk/pop bands of the '80's and made some cool songs to boot. The band is back but in a Guns-n-Roses fashion where the cover band backs up the lead singer. It's just not the same without Phil & Boon Gould and the sweet, soulful falsetto of Mike Lindup. And another thing, they're on tour right now, but I wish they get their asses over to America and hit us with the "white funky" again. "World Machine" and "Running in the Family" are classics. Whew, That's enough, I'm going to bed. Thanks for the topic.

UptownDeb

I was really into them in the '80's. Even caught their show at the Ritz. Starchild, Something About You, Lessons in Love...those are a few of my favorite L42 joints.

barf this is the band with the self-proclaimed 'best bass-player in the world'? I'm glad that their time is over! Cheesy as shit! The backing vocals are so gay!

Staring at the Sun was a great album, but it definitely took some listening to before it's quality sunk in. They switched out guitar and drummer on that album - the guitar player USED to play with Go West, (and later died of Aid).

Level 42 was a great european sounding band - their music never really seemed to catch on over here. Hot Water, AWESOME song, Fashion People was also a great groove. Really, I dug it all.
