I really see myself in Erykah Badu's music, I relate to her words so much. Songs like "Kiss Me On My Neck", "Bag Lady", "Booty" and "Didn't cha know" are reflections of my life thats why I respect what she does along with Lauryn(who does the same thang in her music), both sistas are schooling us with their stuff.

You have to see her LIVE...she is GOOD!!

She has decent Songs but Live is the only avenue I can see Her in.She takes herself to Seriously IMHO overall&She always has to keep dropping a Hit so She don't fall off.dug the first Album&"Tyronne"&Her Live thing a few years back but overall She is starting to put me to sleep.

For those of you mad she didn't drop a live album with her second LP (as with the first) there is a great quality 2CD bootleg from Central Park, NYC, Summerstage, Rumsey Playfield 6/8/01 which has a set by Talib Kweli included also.

Erykah reminds me of Macy Gray, its neva about the the material or the voice or even the look,,its about the [LYRICS!] trust me. I hope you sit down and just listen 2 what she have to say, it will SHOCK you how deep can she be. Very good poet with an uplifting energy.

my favorite badu song is probably 'penitentiary philosophy'.

we all grew up on J5 mistermaxx...I probably have more J5 music than you but damnnn.

Erykah will always be my first wife. I love e'rethang she does but my absolute favorites are Otherside of the Game, AD 2000, Penetentiary Philosophy and Green Eyes.

Jill is very deep when it comes 2 write poems about love and self-pride but I don't think she could write something like "Cleva" or "Kiss Me On My Neck". Besides, very unlike Jill, what I love about Erykah is she has the edgy/dark thing going on with her music,,,thats right there is what attracts me the MOST!

She was a spoken word artist before she began recording..as she said on Jill Scott Experience "I was born a poet, Imma die a poet" etc. Many of her songs are written form the spoken word-poem point of view. I can see if you like Erykas writings better but Jill is equally if not more on a higher level of a poet than Eryka imo..I see Eryka more hip hop-rap based in her writings compared to Jilly from Philly.
