Human Drama - Amazing Band.

any other HD fans out there?

Human Drama has been around for about 15 years or so. Their first album came out in 1989, entitled "FEEL". It's a very edgy, melodic "alternative" rock album. Emotional and almost confessional lyrics. Lead singer Johnny Indovina has always reminded me of a male Tori Amos, or a less over-the-top Robert Smith (of The Cure).

Following "FEEL" came a string of brilliant, amazing albums including "THE WORLD INSIDE", "SONGS OF BETRAYAL", "SOLEMN SUN SETTING" and the covers album "PIN-UPS". HD's music is heavily acoustic, with lots of strings and wonderful arrangments, heavily influenced by the likes of David Bowie, Tom Waits, Joy Division, John Lennon, Lou Reed, etc. Generally very dark lyrically, but not goth (despite sometimes being categorized as "goth" by music stores). They also released a top-notch LIVE album a few years back.

A couple years ago HD released "IN A PERFECT WORLD... THE BEST OF HUMAN DRAMA". If you've never heard of HD, and want to experience some great music that deserves a wider audience, I recommend checking out this collection. It's widely available on any of the online music services (like Amazon, etc...) Or, if u like to download a few songs to get a sample, try: "My Denial", "Single White Rose", "Death of An Angel", "This Tangled Web", "Goodnight Sweetheart". Or send me an Orgnote if u would like a sampler, I'll send you one.

Johnny Indovina and company have been making great, heartfelt and fantastically produced albums for 15 years, and they deserve to be alongside the titans of "alternative" rock like Radiohead, REM, The Cure, U2, Pearl Jam, etc... They are THAT good. Trust me.

They just released a new album called "CAUSE AND EFFECT", and it doesn't disappoint. It's only available throught the Projekt Records website. I always like to try and spread the word about this amazing band, because I feel they deserve much more exposure than they have ever received, and that's why I'm posting this message.

OK>. Off my soapbox. smile

I have heard a few songs by Human Drama and really like the sound ~ quite different from anything else. Just didn't post because I cannot begin to speak intelligently about them ~ the two CD's I have came from a friend in St. Louis ~ he also sent me Autumn Tears, Saty Frightened and Vehemance Realized. I will bring out the Human Drama and listen again then can respond more passionately! Thank you for bringing them up again ~ it's been a while since I listened.
