CynicKill said: Frank Ocean goes OFF on the grammys. But is he correct? Here's what I know: Frank's grammy performance was sh!t. Apparently he knows that too. Taylor Swift should NOT have won another Best Album award over anyone. But is it kosher for a fellow artist to state that publicly? Frank feels he's doing more justice to Prince by not participating. This could be true. But it also gives Bruno Mars a chance to be tomorrow, and possibly grammy history, talk as one of THOSE performances. Works up for consideration shouldn't have to be submitted. I know this is how these shows work but it's just a lazy excuse for members not to be up on their sh!t. And lastly, after that last performance, I would've gone on JUST to redeem myself. But that's just me.
http://ew.com/music/2017/...ank-ocean/ : OK KEN (AND DAVID). AS MUCH AS I HATE TO MAKE YOU GUYS FAMOUS OR EVEN RESPOND TO YOU DIRECTLY. WE ALL DIE ONE DAY AND YOU’RE OLD SO F— IT. YEA YEA MY 2013 PERFORMANCE AT THE GRAMMYS WAS ABSOLUTE SH–. TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES, BLAH BLAH. THANKS FOR THE REMINDER. VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. F— THAT PERFORMANCE THOUGH. YOU THINK THAT’S WHY I KEPT MY WORK OUT OF THE GRAMMY PROCESS THIS YEAR? DON’T YOU THINK I WOULD’VE WANTED TO PLAY THE SHOW TO ‘REDEEM’ MYSELF IF I FELT THAT WAY? IN REALITY, I ACTUALLY WANTED TO PARTICIPATE IN HONORING PRINCE ON THE SHOW BUT THEN I FIGURED MY BEST TRIBUTE TO THAT MAN’S LEGACY WOULD BE TO CONTINUE TO BE MYSELF OUT HERE AND TO BE SUCCESSFUL. WINNING A TV AWARD DOESN’T CHRISTEN ME SUCCESSFUL. IT TOOK ME SOME TIME TO LEARN THAT. I BOUGHT ALL MY MASTERS BACK LAST YEAR IN THE PRIME OF MY CAREER, THAT’S SUCCESSFUL. BLONDE SOLD A MILLION PLUS WITHOUT A LABEL, THAT’S SUCCESSFUL. I AM YOUNG, BLACK, GIFTED AND INDEPENDENT.. THAT’S MY TRIBUTE. I’VE ACTUALLY BEEN TUNING INTO CBS AROUND THIS TIME OF YEAR FOR A WHILE TO SEE WHO GETS THE TOP HONOR AND YOU KNOW WHAT’S REALLY NOT ‘GREAT TV’ GUYS? 1989 GETTING ALBUM OF THE YEAR OVER TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY. HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE MOST ‘FAULTY’ TV MOMENTS I’VE SEEN. BELIEVE THE PEOPLE. BELIEVE THE ONES WHO’D RATHER WATCH SELECT PERFORMANCES FROM YOUR PROGRAM ON YOUTUBE THE DAY AFTER BECAUSE YOUR SHOW PUTS THEM TO SLEEP. USE THE OLD GRAMOPHONE TO ACTUALLY LISTEN BRO, I’M ONE OF THE BEST ALIVE. AND IF YOU’RE UP FOR A DISCUSSION ABOUT THE CULTURAL BIAS AND GENERAL NERVE DAMAGE THE SHOW YOU PRODUCE SUFFERS FROM THEN I’M ALL FOR IT. HAVE A GOOD NIGHT. That said, he's right about one thing: Taylor's generic, one-dimensional, dime-a-dozen, flavorless Max Martin produced album winning AoTY was almost as insulting as Macklemore picking up every hip hop Grammy in 2014. Just another example of how agenda prevails over art. [Edited 2/12/17 14:37pm]

I'm still heated that Solange didn't get nominated for Best Album! Given this tumblr post I'm worried about Frank. A simple "that's not the reason I'm not participating in the awards this year, this is" would've sufficed. His critical darling status is clearly going to his head and that won't be good for him. One thing he said about the producers is that they were old. But old people tend to see through BS, and maybe, after working with him, they've picked up on personality traits that lead them to believe that the reason he wasn't coming was because of past experience.

I don't know a lot of Beyonce's music, but I thought the performance was dope. Maybe cause I don't listen to a lot of Pop music, and it was great to see her get out of her comfort zone. Also? Adele threw mad shade at Bey in the episode of 60 Minutes, which aired before the Grammy's.
