Do you dig this urban 'trap' hip hop trend? This is the top 10 of Billboard Hot 100 for this week:
#1 Black Beatles (Rae Sremmurd featuring Gucci Mane) #2 Bad & Boujee (Migos featuring Lil Uzi Vert) #3 Starboy (The Weeknd featuring Daft Punk) #4 Closer (The Shitsmokers) #5 24K Magic (Bruno Mars) #6 Juju on that Beat (Zay Hilfigerrr & Zayion McCall) #7 Side to Side (Ariana Grande featuring Nicki Minaj) #8 Let Me Love You (DJ Snake featuring Justin Bieber) #9 Fake Love (Drake) #10 Broccoli (Big Baby D.R.A.M. featuring Lil Yatchy) 5 songs are trap/hiphop They basically took over the whole social media. And radios are playing them like crazy.. The only good songs from Top 10 are 24K Magic and Starboy So is this where it's at right now? You get Mike.Will.Made.It to fuck with a couple of 'dope' beats and you rap about anything obscene and unbearable and you soar to Top10 ? Nevermind that streaming took over physical/digital sales and radio airplay. Billboard's tracking system seems to rely now more than ever on Spotify subscriptions and streaming numbers more than it counts true sales. Whatever happened? [Edited 1/4/17 1:59am]

I'm personally burnt out on it. It all sounds exactly the same. Same beats, flow, cadence, etc. I wonder when this fad will end?

[Edited 1/4/17 1:59am] --24 K is old school RnB the song is more like Cameo or Zapp. The rest of this is total shit. It is not hip/hop. It is kind of sad that masses missed out on 80s and early 90s hip-hop.

No I FUCKING hate it to death. I am sick of this [Racial slur snip - luv4u] ass, minstrel show shit. . It is ghetto, ratchet, and fucked up beyond belief. It is just the most [Racial slur snip - luv4u] like people talking shit and swearing to a drum machine beat. They glorify illegal drugs (And none of you pot/anti alcohol hippies) start up. It is antisocial music that contributes to the failure of the race in general. . It is mostly record companies that benefit from this crime producing shit, as ratchet ass hood rats listen to this shit and emulate the crime and drugs it glorifies and then end up in the private jails whose profits benefit the corporate record companies. A destructive cycle that ends. . Also did I mention it has NO MUSICALITY, NO TALENT, NO VALUE and no IQ is needed to make it. It is the shittiest shit ever made. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I wish it would, but gangsta rap, thug rap, dirty south, bling bling rap and Lil Jon type rap has been hot since 1992 and has no signs of going away. Shit like Chingy, Yung Joc, Lil Bow wow, Twista, Mystikal, Lil Jon, Ying Yang twins and other shit has been around since 1992/93. Now it has merged with pop rap and the viral rap dance song (Dougie, Stanky leg, bernie, johnwall, silento, nae nae, juju on the beat) has been around at least since 2007. . As long as there are IQ 70 mouthbreeding simps and ratchet hoodrats and ghetto people along with wannabe wigga white kids, people will keep buying and making this shit. The names and artists change, but da shit stays the same. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Gangsta rapnwas probably last popular in the early to mid 2000s with your Beanie Segals, 50 Cents, DMX type rappers. This trap stuff is like an extension of snapp music/crunk music IMO. Your Dem Franchize Boyz, D4L, Crime Mob, Soulja Boy, ect. Which all became hot about a decade ago. PRINCE: Always and Forever

How do you always manage to get away with posting this racist bullshit that you write all the time? "THE FAILURE OF THE RACE?" Excuse me but WHITE PEOPLE buy more rap music than blacks do. Delete yourself, troll. Trolls be gone!

You used to be so nice once, but really you sound like and probably are one of Tommy Sotomayors beasties and Tariqs hoodrats. . Also no one else finds my response racist, Cinnie gave me a round of applause, I hate Trump but at least wecan say what we really feel about certain aspects of this race and culture we must respect and praise 100% lest we be called racist by white haters like you and Haus of moi7 I am sure that gutter dwelling troll is not far from here. . I hate the music because it is shit, the fact that 99% of the performers are of the Negro race is merely coincidental. Besides If I hate black so much, why do I praise the music of Black artists and see Obama, MLK and Mandela as amongst the greatest people who ever lived. . You also can not read whole posts very well, but you can blame whitey for that also. As I mention that the white run record labels and wiggas buying this shit are just as bad. Do they not matter to you, like these hard done by gun toting thugs that sing that shit are all victim of de ebil whitmans! Trap is the worst gimmick and trend to start in music. It is also destroying Hip Hop. This is the music that some of ya'll call "iconic" though This crap is not going to be remembered in a 5 year span. I hate the misogyny and disparging representation of Black people and culture Trap music exploits. Lastly, Trap music negatively degrades Black people and I find it disgusting. Race has everything to do with that and ESPECIALLY rap/hip hop culture. There is an agenda that is being presented in Trap music in which Black people are being marginalized and no it is not right. This has been the agenda for some time now in commercial rap. In addition, Its the same issue with Black misogyny that these Black female pop stars play into, its all rooted in racism and to present the "white wash" interpretation of how they feel Black culture should be presented.

They are the core fanbase of commercial rap because of what it represents and like I said there is an agenda being pushed by the white establishment in terms of how Black people should be presented in their culture. What that Adorecream said was very ignorant but I don't see anything wrong with talking about race and music because Black culture has everything to do with HIP HOP. Hip Hop is based on Black culture and the Black struggle so why shouldn't Black culture be talked about with Hip Hop? [Edited 1/8/17 10:58am]

I cant gives a fuck about anybody talking race, it's the 'snipped' racial slur by a person no of color that is an issue imo.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Agree with you 100%. Adorecream post was racist and ignorant. My post was directed at luv4u's post and often times I see her sentiments in this section. IMO, when it comes down to the history of certain genres such as Hip Hop, race or culture might have to be brought up because its associated with the formation of a genre.
