Yeah I thought that sounded good but she probably could not hear herself at all.

I was wondering....how is it that everybody else (her dancers, the audience, and those of us watching on TV) could hear the music but *she* couldn't? nuts lol

Like I am sure if she was just a dancer or a rapper, she could flub her way through it, but she needs to hear the chords and hear her own singing back in the monitors to get the pitch right.

She'll probably try to sue Dick Clark Productions.

Her rep is trying to say that Mariah's performance was "sabotaged" but Dick Clark Productions are disputing that claim:

“As the premier producer of live television events for nearly 50 years, we pride ourselves on our reputation and long-standing relationships with artists. To suggest that dcp, as producer of music shows including the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and Academy of Country Music Awards, would ever intentionally compromise the success of any artist is defamatory, outrageous and frankly absurd. In very rare instances there are of course technical errors that can occur with live television, however, an initial investigation has indicated that dcp had no involvement in the challenges associated with Ms. Carey’s New Year’s Eve performance. We want to be clear that we have the utmost respect for Ms. Carey as an artist and acknowledge her tremendous accomplishments in the industry.”

Mariah's rep says that "allegations she planned to lip sync the performance just added “insult to injury.” lol

Mariah is complaining that Dick Clark Productions should have not aired the peformance on the West Coast.Really?? What would that have accomplished in the age of youtube (where I saw it) plus every tabloid TV show would show footage of it anyway.

Musicslave

Mariah and her team really should let it go. Take her L and go home. She still have her tour with Lionel to look forward to for any type of redemption (if that's at all possible).

-

The longer they keep defending her, the longer this embarrassment will stay in the news.

Agreed. This is not the first time she's had to deal with a dumpster fire onstage, IIRC.

She needs to take a break away from the spotlight and focus on raising her small children. She has nothing to prove music or talent wise. She needs to spend some time and take care of herself. She also needs to fire her current manager seriously.

Identity

The attacks on Dick Clark Productions have proved costly and ill-advised. Like someone said the other day, the more she revisits the incident, the more damage she inflicts on herself. Let it go already.

Beyonce, Madonna, Janet Jackson ( the Queen ), 50Cents, Shakira. Lady Gaga, I could go on. Instead of posting A video of someone singing.. you've should take the time to search YouTube for those who... . wink The other thing, the Today Show, Good Morning America -Stage, most of the award shows (especially BET) quite of few artist don't sing live. I think they have those bloopers on YouTube as well... they use to have many more but those videos have been pulled.

Do I detect a bit of shade here? lol Never said you were entirely wrong but I gave you examples of a few females that don't lip sync.

Of course Janet lip syncs. She got lazy as her career spanned and made dancing and choreography as much

the focus of her show as the music and it's no secret all these pop divas that you mentioned

have the same thing in common. Dancing and choreography is a big part of their shows and Janet admitted it's hard to keep up with the dancing and singing all the same. Not an excuse for me but that's the climate it became. I've often said I don't need to see Janet with 12 dancers on stage doing the same shit. lol I'm paying to see Janet perform. 2-4 dancers would do. Let's not assume Janet never sung live at all. I saw her first tour live and she performed Come Back To Me accapella with just the acoustic guitar and I was impressed. As the years went by she became lazy and did what she had to do to make the shows work for her. Basically she started doing a hybrid performance of lip syncing, dancing, and singing live.

lol No, not at all...

I'm kinda surprised by the "shock of it all"... it all started before Missy started clowning and blaming everyone else because she didn't prepare properly for the show. The over the top response Carey's career is dead... is nonsense

As I mentioned in those (NY New Year's, In Time Square,, Today Show, GMC) types of situations lip-sync is very common, I'll give an artist a break. Should artist be given the same consideration if they are singing live on Saturday Night Live or in concert, hell no. Yet, for this generations of artist, its common lip-sync in concerts. So, why all the shock... the outrage? eek mad

lol

I never thought I lived to say this for only the second time, but Mariah's career was a lot better when Tommy Molotta was her handler!

Yes, Tommy can be just as much as a slick devil as Clive Davis & Jimmy Iovine. But at least as a record label exec, he knew how to keep Mariah focus.

I think people hold Mariah to a different standard because her whole appeal is her voice and she is known as a great singer so they can't understand why she would be lip synching. Whereas most of the other singers who lip sync aren't known for being great vocalists in the first place.

Also most of the artists who lip sync are dancing and doing choreography so that at least shows talent to do something. In fact, that's the whole reason they are lip synching because it's hard to dance and sing well at the same time.

But Mariah doesn't dance, she would just be standing there and pretending to sing, which seems ridiculous to most people.

Actually we don't hold Mariah to a different standard, Mariah needs to put the blame on Mariah, instead of everybody else. She thinks she is such a Diva anymore, and actually she is just showing her ass.

I wonder how thats working for Thalia. Tommy aknowledged he kept her lock and key and treated her bad. Plus Walter and Mariah's relationship fell out due to him spreading gossip about her life so it was bound to end. Tommy did that to himself. I believe she would have stayed if he treated her better, but she did admit she was young too and didnt know what she was doing at all.

The diva strikes again. biggrin

Mariah Carey is suing a South American concert promoter after she canceled shows in Argentina in Chile because they didn't pay her in full, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday (Jan. 10) in L.A. County Superior Court.

Mirage Entertainment on Tuesday sued FEG Entretenimientos for breach of contract, claiming their late payments gave Carey the right to cancel and be paid in full — but the company accused the star of damaging their brand by failing to perform.
