GM's MTV Unplugged Session is his "Small Club". Stellar performances w/some fun rearranged/reimagined versions. Looking forward to its official release this March when they reissue LWP vol 1.

What an amazing voice. I watched this cover of Victims 3x in a row, it's that good. I would pay good money for good quality audio copy of these performances.

the inconclusive autopsy seems to always point to drug use. I'm no coroner though.

just saw some pics of him, they said they are the last pics and they were taken months ago, how/why would a star be so reclusive as to not have pics taken of him at all? that's kinda unusual in itself. it's the sun so take it with a grain of salt.

TMZ is reputable, they have pics in which he does indeed look obese. Please don't shoot the messenger, I'm just trying to make sense of all this and the pics do point to heart attack risk.

That to me does not look alike a normal weight gain that comes from age, overeating and not exercising. It looks like it's a weight gain perhaps as a side effect of some kind of medication or a symptom of an illness. Look how bloated his face is. Norrmally middle aged people may gain in their waist or stomach, not in their face like that.

That does not change the fact that for most of his life George Michael was a very normal fit weight. I remember seeing some pictures maybe 6 months or a year ago of him when he was a perfectly normal weight. So if he gained weight in the last months of his life that was very abnormal for him and perhaps a side effect of some medication.

I think they weren't more pictures of him taken recently because he was living in a rural area of the UK, not in London anymore, where there wouldn't be a lot of media or paparazzi looking for celebrities.

George Michael was an amazing artist, singer, songwriter and who also played numerous instruments writing and recording most of his albums himself.

I know he wasn't as prolific as they were, but I don't think it's right that his death did not get anywhere near the media coverage of Michael Jackson, Prince or David Bowie.

He was a musical genius in the same way that they were and that should be recognized more.

watching a great docu on GM right now, the saddest thing aside from his natural talent and seeing him young and healthy is how decent, smart and nice he seemed.

He was a wonderfully talented and insightful performer.

At the height of my Prince stan-dom in my teens, I hated on GM because I believed he was riding Prince's musical coattails to pop stardom. I felt like "Faith," "I Want Your Sex," "Father Figure" and "Monkey" were clear Prince knockoffs.

But his work was fun, genuine and informed. I grew to respect him for his abilities and his willingness, like Prince, to go his own way and use his stardom to take risks, not to achieve more fame.

Now, as a middle aged man, I'm sad to see him go. Rest peacefully, George.

Not so sure about that though. There seemed to be some sort of underlying health issue that may have been lingering from 2011 when he was close to death, I mean we have no clue what that did to his heart also but when he was released from the hospital then we can all remember him being almost unable to catch his breath. The thing with autopsies and I recall this from PRINCE's death was that a medical examiner said that (in Prince's case) they knew right away what it was, they can tell first day if it was a heart attack an OD etc...those things actually do not take time to find cause.

no, they said inconclusive with Prince's and Mj's case.

But what I am saying and this medical examiner was saying about "time frames" is that you know day one what killed someone. You can tell by simple tests done right from a basic autopsy what killed someone. It was inconclusive how many drugs were in Prince's system, but knowing he died from drugs was day one known, they were looking into combination of them the same in MJ's case.

It takes time to get the results of a toxicology report. So I don't think we knew for sure drugs killed MJ or Prince until later after the results of the tox screen were available.

Loved him! This is horrible and what a way to end 2016 with Carrie Fisher and her mom Debbie Reynolds passing away all in the same week. sad GM was fantastic and I have been listening to some of his solo work and work with Wham on youtube. Great stuff, RIP George.

GM's boyfriend of 5+ years tweeted (last night on New Years eve) GM was suicidal for years. He (now) says he slept in his car the night before finding GM dead, not in the house.

GM's boyfriend is a hairstylist and sometime photographer. He also did some adult films a long time ago under the name Isaac Mazar.

GM's battle with deep depression is well known but he clearly had plans, he was working on a documentary to support the re-release of LWP vol 1. His BF seems like a sensitive guy who is struggling with a lot. I've read he has a history of friends dying suddenly (a member of BoyZone died suddenly).

I hate to apply too much meaning... but I hope this isn't turning into a Kato Kaelin / Andrew Cunanan thing. Perhaps he had way too much to drink on New Years Eve and got on social media at the worst possible time in his life. He's since claimed his account was hacked and closed his accounts. Probably the smart thing to do.

I agree. He looks bloated from medication, like cortisol. I read somewhere he was staying away from the public eye because he was very upset about his appearance.
Poor George. I did not like his music, at all, but I acnowledge his talent.

Beautiful tribute message posted by Sananda Maitreya aka TTD about George Michael

In my current daze, stunned as I am,
I salute my dear friend & most worthy colleague
George Michael.

I & many in our field owe a great debt to him.
He taught many of us how to write songs and was the epitome of a Pop Idol, which is no small responsibility.

And he always took care to be a vocal & supportive
Friend to me in whatever various states he may have found my psyche in upon his caring inquiries.

What a unique & special soul now blended into the very Ethers & molecules dancing in the air around us while Linking our breaths together as one.

May God Bless & Keep Our Dear Sweet George
&
May we all be blessed to appreciate the truly great artist that we have lost.

'Last Christmas' indeed.
My thoughts & prayers to his family
& Many loved ones.

We fought in the wars together.
Hopefully now he will get the critical evaluation he deserves for who he was, and not for who he wasn't.

I will always Love him.

Goodbye My Beautiful Brother !
Your Eternal Friend,
Sananda Maitreya.

Strange that he slept in the car. Sorry, can't help but wonder why. Was he kiched out of the house for some reason, but wanted to stay close by? Again, many questions which is inevitable when you have a 50 something year old man dying in his sleep...

Sad if it was suicide. Maybe he and his partner had a fight or something that's why the guy slept in the car?? Too bad the fellow is coming up with a different story now.

I read somewhere online where someone saw him standing at the window watching Christmas Eve fireworks.

if he said he was hacked, i'd go with that first. internet makes information hard to get, i mean real information, as if that wasn't hard enough before it. I still think Prince may have committed suicide, GM? I don't know, if he did it's pretty pathetic that a guy with all those resources can't find a way to enjoy life. Like I said when Prince died, I don't feel sorry for him, i feel sorry for the guy who has to work in a dirty, hot steel mill for forty years.

Nah, I don't believe he was hacked. He was drunk tweeting, more then likely. And another thing the partner said is that GM tried suicide many times before, but if that is the case, why didn't we hear 1 thing about it?

we'll know more when toxicology comes. Pop stars never have aged very gracefully as a rule. That's always been a tough thing for any of them to cope with. Prince may still be alive, maybe, if he had just accepted that he couldn't keep jumping off speakers and pianos in his early thirties.

In 2013, GM "accidentally" fell out of the back of his chauffeur driven car while riding at 70 MPH on the M1 freeway. Seems like an attempt. Also in this article from 2013 - they mention his pneumonia scare included some sort of heart related complications.
