I just heard the new song! It's very electronic/Daft Punk-ish,very 80s.....it has a really cool bridge/breakdown part where the music changes completely (is Jay rapping?)....I like it

^^ thanks for that link | |

Thank you for the link! I listened a few times. It didn't "grab" me on first listen, but I believe it's going to grow on me. This style of music is what's hot, so they may have a hit on their hands. I prefer music where the instruments are distinguishable. With a nice guitar, bass, piano, sax, or drum break maybe.. And yes that is Jay rapping! Sounding so fresh and so young :

I saw the lyrics on another site. That actually takes the song up a notch. We're in a strange time right now, extremely disconnected and I don't see that changing...

Thanks for this...listening to the song now...pretty catchy, I'm not loving the heavy "tech" sound too much right now, but it does seem like a grower. I listen to it a few more times I'm sure. Excited for what's to come though!!! I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

the official music video for "Automaton"

The song is okay but not great. If you take away the techy bleeps and sound effects, the melody and chorus are pretty weak. And the video was very underwhelming. Woulda been much better if there was more of Jay Kay's dancing and less of him walking around. Not trying to hate though. Will definitely be buying the new album and glad to see Jamiroquai back. Just not that impressed with first single. Love the hat though.

Underwhelming but kinda catchy Sounds a bit like Kim Wildes Keep Me Hanging On The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

I think the video goes well with the song and just enhances the overall experience. Especially Jay dancing! I wasn't feeling the song at first, but after a few listens it started sounding good. However, I hope the entire album's not this style. Electronic music is fine, especially when the beat is hot. But if you have a BAND behind you, why would want that style?? I'm listening to DMX - "x gon' give it to ya" - as I type this. Hot beat! Probably a sample from some other song. This work for hip-hop and is fine in small doses. I feel the same way about electronic music. I don't want an entire album of this from a band.

yeah,I hope that the new album is not *entirely* electronic.I like a lot of electronic music, but I don't want Jamiroquai to completely abandon their funk/disco sound.I'd rather see them mix it up.We will get our next taste of the new album when the second single ,"Cloud 9",is released.

I just read on another site that Jay is the guy in the white coat! I can't tell!. Also it appears that he's naked on the beach . Missed that too!

on various Jamiroquai fansites, people have been trying to transcribe the lyrics.I think these may be the correct lyrics:
In our love, every heart is beatin'.

The track kinda feels to me like an updated Emergency on Planet Earth, if not musically then certainly lyrically / conceptually. Emergency meets Twenty Zero One. It's definitely a grower of a song, that's for sure. [Edited 1/28/17 3:55am]
