You know I want to believe him.......but anyone can say anything now that Prince isn't here. I saw that happen with MJ all these aritsts "suppose" to have joined him on his last tour....like yeah right

I don't know if I believe this...but I do know during Prince later years he had an interesting taste in music and artists. I could see him maybe mentoring the Weeknd but who knows. Its hard to tell if this is the truth or not since Prince is no longer here to defend his thoughts. This kinda reminds me of when JT insisted MJ persuaded him to go solo after he passed I have a hard time believing that being Mike didn't even like him.

That would've been cool. Why is it hard for some of you all to believe? Why would Abel just make that up? P. liked many different artists and I also read he wanted to also mentor Chris Brown too. It was so awesome to see P. at the AMA's last year presenting to the Weekend, and P. strutting out on stage like the cool badass that he was and the Weekend telling the audience, "Ya'll give it up for Prince". Nice to see the respect between them.

Prince on the Tavis Smiley show stated(I think) he was not a fan of male vocalist. Yet still after his death it was reported, Anthony Hamilton,Cee-lol Green and Maxwell were at the Park all at once. And also D'angelo at some point has been there as well. So I guess it is possible

Apparently that was taken out of context. Did he mean current artists? He has cited many male vocalists as influences: Stevie Wonder, James Brown, David Bowie, Sly Stone etc. At times, Prince had his way of being shady, coy and sarcastic and at times his words could get misinterpreted, so if that is what he really said, then that would be the case.

On his last album he said Generation X artists as a whole didn't impress him, so there's that.

I'd actually hoped he'd do some work with Hiatus Kaiyote. That would have been magic.

I guess if anyone could have made that guy sound good, it was Prince.

Prince once complemented Willow Smith so anything is possible.


Weeknd has an interesting voice so maybe Prince wanted to offer him some material more worthy of his sound?

Or he could have just been making polite small talk at the awards show?

Firstly when The Weeknd won the Billboard award this year, he said he didn't really know Prince, and actually he sounded extremely rude. Why would he say that if they supposedly had a collaboration in the works? Sounds like BS to me. People are just saying anything since he isn't here to refute it.

Considering P was into FKA Twigs, I could see him being into the Weeknd's sound in a similar fashion.

Think about it: what recent acts who have been intimately associated with Prince recently have
benefitted ultimately and consistently from said relationship? It's a different ball game these days!
