So just because Michelle Obama likes Beyonce that means Beyonce should be nominated in undeserving Grammy nomination categories? That means Beyonce deserves to win in every category?

I don't care who's nominated or who wins. You do, so I don't have an argument. I haven't said one thing about who's nominated. I only laughed at Eminem fans who were mad at Steely Dan winning like I'm laughing at you crying about Beyoncé yet again.

You obviously do care because if you didn't you would not be posting in this discussion. If you didn't care you would not have taken the time to immaturely google a bunch of Michelle Obama gifs to justify Beyonce's nominations. Again, your arguements are always immature and silly and I am not crying over anybody, I gave my opinion on her undeserving nomination categories because there is an obvious industry agenda being pushed. I dont owe you or anybody an explanation for any of my opinions. I simply responded to the thread, period and you yet again trying to dictate and regulate opinions with your silly dumb logic.

biggrin

YES, I care about giving an opinion about the Grammy nominations and voicing my displeasure about them because this is a music discussion and I want to participate in it, that is why I posted in this thread,YOU on the other hand just came to dictate and act like an annoying "little know it all" ass like you always are in all these discussions. Worry about your own opinions and stop dictating the opinions of others. So pressed and bothered by my opinion when you can be responding to a thread you "so call care about", yea whatever, if you didn't care your ass wouldn't be here. Stay pressed and bothered about my opinions, its entertaining to me! biggrin You might can bully and dictate to these other posters but you damn sure ain't doing that with me. Kiss my ass, I WILL say whatever I want and post in whatever thread I choose too. biggrin

Can MotownSubdivision or Lastdecember break this down for me as far as how the Grammy nominations work? As far as I know the nominations are voted on by industry peers and usually typically consist of the best selling albums, songs, etc. Adele and Drake sold the most this year in pure sales and Rihanna did in singles, Drake and Rihanna scored number one singles and Drakes statistics broke records same with Adele....so why does Beyonce have more nominations than them? whofarted And I notice they add more categories just to specifically nominate Beyonce. I am so tired of this unfair industry bullshit.

Labels nominate you, pretty much anything released is eligible and put forward, that list is then voted on by the peers insiders label peeps etc...and that's how we arrive at the same old artists in every category, very little imagination. However I bet this slipped under people radar but MYA nailed down that rb nomination for album of the year on her own imprint and website, no distribution at all except digital outlets but again her company. She commented recently about Prince teaching her business and that's why she left labels back in 2007. But as for your question anything released during that time period they have is eligible but then peers, insiders etc...cast votes and it's always the most popular thing now.

For the first time ever I'm tempted to not even watch the awards this year, but if it means suffering through a Justin Beiber performance for what one would hope will be a killer Prince tribute, then I guess I'll hedge my bets.

I think the obsession the industry and media has for her is creepy and I see there is an agenda going on where she is being unfairly awarded and pushed in the media when her STATS does not reflect that, I am sick and tired of it. Whats wrong with saying she got undeserving nominations over more deserving canidates, how does that make me obsessed??? Beyonce is going to be the most awarded in Grammy artist history and yall acting like this b.s. is "okay"... well this crap doesn't sit well with me, call me whatever you want to call me but I will never stop speaking the truth! There it is, in a nutshell, and it's the reason so many of us ignore the Grammys. We know -- or at least believe firmly -- who made the best music in any given year, and the Grammys are unnecessary to validate those opinions.

I definitly agree. I think in the beginning of her career, Jay Z was trying to make her something she was not (the Island girl version of Beyonce). However, Now that she has her own label, she owns her masters and management, she is able to be her own woman. I am proud of lil miss RiRi and the intelligent, classy and confident woman she has grown into. She is also growing as an artist and performer which I respect. Rihanna is a cool as chick and I will always root for her and Musicslave where l you been? I wish you post more!!! lol

Variety Tv critic puts Lemonade in top 20 tv shows of 2016.

15. “Lemonade” (HBO)
It’s hard to remember that “Lemonade” was a television special, because it rapidly became a global phenomenon. The hourlong visual album is part film, part music video, part spoken word — and it is, in its own way, the shot heard round the world. At first, what is flooring about “Lemonade” is just how varied and stacked it is — Beyoncé recorded the album and shot the videos largely in secret, as is her wont, but this time a whole host of A-list guest stars collaborated with her: Serena Williams, Zendaya, Amandla Stenberg, Quvenzhané Wallis, and of course husband Jay Z. Beyond simply the spectacle — and beyond even the original music, which includes instant classics — “Lemonade” is rapturous and engaging work, a cinematic exploration of identity that is the pop star’s least commercial, most independent effort yet.

Beyoncé’s ‘Lemonade’ Posts Disappointing Ratings

Less than a million people watched the Saturday night premiere on HBO

According to Nielsen’s ratings, Lemonade’s premiere only pulled in 787,000 viewers. That number is surprisingly low—especially since it premiered during an HBO free preview weekend, which means a larger number of cable subscribers than usual had access to it.

http://www.vocativ.com/313517/beyonces-lemonade-posts-disappointing-ratings/

Stop with this bullshit...just stop. She is a FRAUD. Stop believing the LIES and the propaganda. This is the woman they want to replace MJ with but she can't even pull in a million views for an excessively over hyped and marketed movie. Michael pulled in over 25 million views for his interviews and HB0 concert specials, get the fuq out here with this bullshit.

Everytime a lie is posted about Beyonce, I will clock it with accurate facts. neutral

Oh, are we doing selective quotes? Allow me:

"One possible explanation could be that Nielsen’s viewership number doesn’t take into account people who may have watched via the HBO Go and HBO Now apps, so there may have been a lot more eyeballs on Lemonade than it’s getting credit for. And Lemonade did face tough competition, going up against the NBA playoffs on ESPN and TNT. But the same situation applies to other HBO programs. "

and

"And while Lemonade may not have been the most watched show of the week, it did distinguish itself in one arena: Nielsen data reveals that it was the most tweeted about. There were 696,000 tweets about it the night the premiere aired. (The Voice, which came in second, logged just 507,000 tweets.) And that points to what really worked about Lemonade—it got people talking. The amount of conversation it generated, on Twitter and elsewhere, can be seen as a positiive for HBO. And even if the entire Beyhive didn’t tune in for the movie’s premiere, they’ll no doubt fork over money to listen to the album."

I get your agenda. I admire it in fact. Its been awhile since I've seen someone so bothered.

Only Beyonce fans who have HBO watched it, the same would happen for any current artist. Michael (if he was still around) and Madonna in 2016 are not Michael and Madonna in 1990. They would get the same performance with this type of special. TV critics review shows on quality, not ratings. You won't see The Walking Dead or The Big Bang Theory in any best of 2016 lists.

Why do you continueously make excuses for Beyonce after receipts have been given and show that what you posted was false???? The publication that you posted referred to the Lemonade special as a "global phenemonon" and ratings success....which it was not.

Michael (if he was still around) and Madonna in 2016 are not Michael and Madonna in 1990. They would get the same performance with this type of special.

Did you really just type this??? ohhhh hell nah!

no-thanks-sherri-o.gif

Madonna broke a record with her Rebel Hearts tour last year in 2015, she is now the biggest female concert grosser (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebel_Heart_Tour) and she did all of this at the age of 57. So what makes you think people would not have wanted to watch it too???

MADONNA's Rebel Heart tour AIRS on Show Time next year, I am willing to bet money that her Rebels Heart tour will garner more ratings than Beyonce's Lemonade.

Her Sticky and Sweet is the highest tour by a solo artist (male OR female) and she DID that at age 49.

MICHAEL SOLD OUT 1 MILLION TICKETS IN ONE CITY, at the 02 Arena, 50 dates in 6 hours at the age of 50 and it had been over 10 years since his last tour he accomplished that feat. Michael should have just did a stadium tour but I know due to his health problems he did not want too.

Madonna and Michael both equally had more people attend their concerts (averaging 80,000-100,000 a night) than Beyonce's (40,000 and she couldn't even sell out this capacity) and they both have out sold her so its delusional to sit here and give a bullshit argument that they would have had similiar ratings in 2016 when they have proven to be a force to be reckoned with even past their prime/peak years.

Michael's memorial garnered over 30 million ratings/30 million people in America watched (ranking it up as one of the most watched broadcast of all time in top 3) SO what makes you think people would not have watched his 02 Arena london shows on HBO???? Michael's Immortal World Tour show grossed over 200 million and sold out all over the world and the man is dead and gone but people went to the tribute concert because of his MUSIC alone.

. EVEN Janet's Velvet Rope tour garnered 15 million views on HBO and she was well passed her peak in 1998. Beyonce is a overrated fraud, PLAIN and simple! She can not step to real legends and icons and I am not going to sit here and allow you to even imply they would have had the same troubles as her. EVEN Madonna's half time special garnered more ratings than Beyonce and Madonna was in her 50's. Beyonce is all an illusion that is backed by propaganda. You can argue with me all day long but her RECEIPTS expose her for a fraud every time..... Her On the Run concert special had low viewership too

TV critics review shows on quality, not ratings. You won't see The Walking Dead or The Big Bang Theory in any best of 2016 lists.

THEY talk about ratings too. Every critic concert special or music documentary review I have read on Madonna, Michael, Janet, Whitney, etc ALL talk about their ratings. Just because Beyonce had poor ratings doesn't mean Critics don't talk about ratings. IF Michael or Madonna had those poor ratings you BETTER BET critics would have laughed all the way to the bank with writing publications about that.

Beyonce is lucky, she has it SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO easy. She can have poor ratings, album sells, make poor music, be average and still get applauded for it biggrin Michael and Madonna could not be average and had it way more difficult and STILL were more successful than Beyonce could ever dream. CLOCKED.

I have an agenda. I have made my agenda quite clear for some time when it comes to Beyonce AND my agenda is to expose her for the overrated fraud that she is. biggrin

Those were not selective quotes because if people wanted to read the article, there is a link there for all to read. The point of me posting the ratings was to refute the other publication that insisted it was a success in ratings and global phenenmenon when only 700,000 people tuned in. Nobody is not talking about Lemonade. It was talked about when it first came out but people quickly moved on and overall sales for the album show that as well.

I never said MJ and Madonna couldn't sell shitload of concert tickets at very high prices, only that there wasn't much public appeal out of their fanbase. The same applies to every artist nowadays with the exception of Adele and Carrie Underwood who are liked even by people who don't listen to their music.

The last time a Madonna tour was broadcast on tv was the Confessions Tour on NBC on Wednesday, 11/22/06. This was considered a losing performance by ratings analysts because everything on TV was much, much higher ten years ago. Due to the affluence of people who can afford Madonna tickets and their likelihood to have Showtime, I'm expecting 0.80 million for the Rebel Heart tour on Showtime.
