Oh, DAMN! sad What a year! This makes me particularly sad because I saw Sharon perform on New Year's Eve two years ago when she announced that she had just finished her final chemo treatment at the time and it looked like she was beating cancer. I couldn't believe her strength, energy, and resilience to continue touring while she was dealing with all that in her life. She was a beautiful person with a passion for life and music that kept burning until the end. Such a shame that she was taken from us all too soon... sigh

OMG! This is terrible news! sad

I didn't realize her health had taken a turn for the worse again. She was a wonderful singer and performer, keeping old school soul alive.

Sharon Jones was scheduled to perform at NJPAC in New Jersey tonight. It was a celebration of James Brown's music. When the show began it was announced by Christian Mcbride she was in the hospital and wouldn't be able to attend. He also asked that we pray for her.

After intermission he started talking about how life is all about "transitions"...and how if someone is suffering in their body isn't transitionig the best thing for them.....and how the people of New Orleans handle transitions by celebrating ..he then went on to announce she had passed.

My condolences to her loved ones.

I wondered why her pic was coming up on Facebook, but didn't pay much attention. This shit really breaks my heart. I loved her so much from day one. Daptone Records has such a great roster of folks.

100 Days, 100 Nights is a masterpiece.

She was one of the few talents in the industry who loved making new song arrangements not to mention that her voice was otherworldy.

May she find peace in the afterlife.

And, 2016 is one more time being the bitch nobody wants to fuck with. I hope this is the last death of a musician we love.

Saw her perform at the last concert prince concert I saw. Great tribute in the car commercial she did this year. Such a great energy she had RIP Sharon.
