Check out Soulmusic.com on Facebook! LOTS of aMAZING stuff comin' out in October, namingly Natalie Cole's 1983 sole Epic/CBS album, "I'm Ready" expanded! It was released on CD with bonus tracks in 1992 on the heels of "Unforgettable's" monster success, but was mixed at a very low volume. Hopefully David Nathan will turn that shit UP! "Azz Iz" is the JOINT produced by Stanley Clarke! Kinda sounds like an early Jam/Lewis track! [Edited 8/29/16 17:18pm] Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

soulmusic.com's reissues are kind of hit and miss for me. I was just listening to their reissue of Meli'sa Morgan's "Do Me Baby" the other day and, sound wise, I really don't hear any difference between the reissue and the original 80's CD pressing. The bonus tracks are nice, though. And I HATE that gold frame around the artwork on their reissues!

when is Rufus releasing remasters with bonus????

. The Natalie CD is a straight reissue of the reissue haha. The tracklist on the Cherry Red site is identical to that first pressing. "I'm Ready" originally came out on CD after Natalie was back on top in the early 90s, there was no CD pressing in '83. They might just leave the audio the same as the original CD too which would save them a lot of money. . Kit your comment about the Meli'sa CD is dead on. If an album has been on CD before that's often what the label will provide as a master for a reissue. Many reissue labels will then pay someone to remaster that existing audio - some labels sadly brickwall the sh!t out of it because a lot of older CDs are considered "quiet" by todays standards. . It's a common misconception that it's always better to go back to the original master tapes for a reissue. A good example of this is the FTG reissue of Evelyn "Champagne" King's "So Romantic" album. There are errors present on a number of the Side B tracks that WEREN'T on the original 1984 CD. Clearly the tapes had degraded by the time that transfer happened. They should have used the original CD as the refererence for those tracks and had their sound guy mix the tracks so they had a consistent sound to the Sida A tracks. Or just remastered from the original CD as that digital transfer obviously happened before the tapes had been stored in god knows what conditions for 30 years. . I guess with the Meli'sa CD soulmusic.com went back to the tapes for the bonus tracks only as they had never been on CD before. Only fans would notice that the album audio was identical to the first press and it would have been a lot more cost effective for the reissue label that way.

Unfortunately, Universal owns those albums and, other than the Japan remasters a fews years ago, they have shown no interest in releasing remastered and expanded editions. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

seand67 said: Without any bonus tracks.....NO THANKS. They need to reissue the COMPLETE 'Stomin At The Savoy' live album!! [Edited 9/3/16 13:18pm] I know. The only reason i got the recent Savoy reissue was bc the original WB presiing sounded like shit and i wanted some more history behind the show, since there had been very little up until this point. If funkytown grooves had of reissued it, im sure we would have had the complete concert. But again, bbr being u.k. based, it hard for them to license unreleased material from american artists. I believe there will be four "vault" tracks including the funky, "Azz Iz" produced by Stanley Clarke and yes...the gold frame border is SO TACKY! Plus, there's usually WAY TOO MUCH TEXT on the front covers TOO! Just reissue the albums the way they looked in their original form! It's perfectly CLEAR that they're "reissues" and when one reads the back tracklisting, clear that there are/are NOT bonus tracks! I agree, kit!!! :-O Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

Interesting. Soulmusic Records seems to keep messin' up on their product line. First, Stephanie Mills' "Tantalizingly Hot" had issues and now there's some weird glitch on Evelyn King's "Flirt" on either Track 9 or 10. Can't recall. I threw it away rather than wait 4 months for Amazon to refund me or for SMR to reissue it aGAIN with a new remixer. Gets tired FAST. Get it RIGHT the FIRST time so your customer base isn't spending money TWICE. It's unprofessional, wasteful and unfair. Hopefully, they'll crank the volume up on Natalie's "I'm Ready." The 1992 CD is mixed SO LOW that it's pretty inaudible. Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I know exactly which glitch you're talking about on Flirt. I knew it wasn't a cd error, but mastering issues. But, I took a chance and got another copy of Flirt- and for some reason, the glitch isn't there. Maybe they have some bad copies... I'm not really sure. [Edited 9/14/16 18:53pm]

Hmmmm. I have the reissue of "Flirt" and to be honest, since I've heard the album so many times, I haven't listened to anything on the reissue except the remixes of "Kisses Don't Lie". I will have to give it a spin this weekend to see what glitch you're speaking of. There is really no excuse for glitches since the Flirt album, along with all of the single remixes, are all available on CD. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley
