Interesting. Soulmusic Records seems to keep messin' up on their product line. First, Stephanie Mills' "Tantalizingly Hot" had issues and now there's some weird glitch on Evelyn King's "Flirt" on either Track 9 or 10. Can't recall. I threw it away rather than wait 4 months for Amazon to refund me or for SMR to reissue it aGAIN with a new remixer. Gets tired FAST. Get it RIGHT the FIRST time so your customer base isn't spending money TWICE. It's unprofessional, wasteful and unfair. Hopefully, they'll crank the volume up on Natalie's "I'm Ready." The 1992 CD is mixed SO LOW that it's pretty inaudible. sad

Hmmmm. I have the reissue of "Flirt" and to be honest, since I've heard the album so many times, I haven't listened to anything on the reissue except the remixes of "Kisses Don't Lie". I will have to give it a spin this weekend to see what glitch you're speaking of. There is really no excuse for glitches since the Flirt album, along with all of the single remixes, are all available on CD.

Another reissue soulmusic.com screwed up on is Alicia Myer's "Alicia Again". Some of the tracks sound like they were directly lifted from a cassette or 8-track tape. I didn't make a big fuss about it because I was told by an engineer some years ago that a lot of Alicia Myer's master tapes are either not available or in really bad shape. I think that's why we haven't seen a proper reissue of "I Appreciate" and no reissue for "I Fooled You This Time".

.

Alicia Myers hasn't had much luck with reissues. Her first album didn't come out on CD until it was reissued in Japan in 2008. The CD sounds ok but I'm not convinced all the tracks came from master tapes. If it did then the tapes weren't in the best shape. A few months later "I Appreciate" was also reissued in Japan however it sounds horrible. It's too loud, brickwalled and is a poorly done vinyl transfer. Vinyl was even used in favour of the tracks that had appeared on compilations before from the master tapes. It made no sense. A few years after that the aforementioned "Alicia / Alicia Again" twofer came out. After buyers criticized the sound I remember reading SMR had used the Japanese CD as their master of "Alicia" while Universal UK provided the audio for "Alicia Again". It doesn't sound good. I don't own the original LP so I don't know how the original master was.

.

I do know that there are problems with the original LP release of "I Fooled You This Time" though. I bought a couple of sealed copies of that LP because I thought I must have purchased a bad one the first time. All copies I have heard have imperfections which indicate there was either problem with the original master or when the LPs were pressed. Listen to the track "Better Woman Or Bigger Fool" if you have it. It doesn't sound great.

.

I would say we've probably seen the last of Alicia on CD now that Universal are allowing third parties to license their catalog less and less.

Interesting and agreed! Seems as if whomever at SMR is doing the remastering, they're not paying attention to, for lack of a better word, "proofreading" the product b4 it's released 2 the public. It's annoying AND unprofessional. Not 2 mention, the actual CD covers look like CRAP with the gold framed border and text smeared all over the place! Fans wanna see the remaster JUST as it first appeared when released way back WHEN; NOT with all these 1988-ish and severerly DATED Wordperfect embellishments. Hope you're well, kit! <3

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

The Beatles Eight Days a Week: The Touring Years Deluxe (2 Blu-Ray)
release: November 18, 2016

Special Collector's Edition includes Feature Film Plus 100 Minutes of Extras & 64 Page Booklet!

In The Beatles: Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years, Oscar-winning director Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13) explores the history of The Beatles through the lens of the group's concert performances, from their early days playing small clubs in Liverpool and Hamburg to their unprecedented world tours in packed stadiums around the globe, from New York to Melbourne to Tokyo. The film is produced with the full cooperation of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison.

After their legendary North American television debut on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, The Beatles transfixed the U.S. and the tremors were felt worldwide, transforming music and pop culture forever with their records and television appearances. The Beatles' extraordinary musicianship and charisma also made them one of the greatest live bands of all time. The first feature-length documentary authorized by The Beatles since the band's breakup in 1970, Eight Days A Week features rare and never-before-seen archival footage of shows and interviews, plus new interviews with McCartney, Starr and numerous prominent observers. The film captures the exhilaration of The Beatles' phenomenal rise to fame as well as the toll it eventually took on the band members, prompting them to stop touring altogether in August 1966 and devote their prodigious musical energy to the series of ground-breaking studio recordings for which they are best known today.

Featuring a wealth of specially created supplementary material totaling 100 minutes of extras, the deluxe editions contain exclusively created featurettes for fans to delve even deeper into the band's world. Accompanying these are stunning, fully restored full length performances of some of the band's most iconic tracks including "Twist and Shout" and "She Loves You" recorded at the ABC Theatre, Manchester in 1963 and "Can't Buy Me Love" at the NME Awards, 1964, in London, bringing the experience of seeing The Beatles in concert fully to life for all fans.

Special Collector's Edition Features:
• Blu-ray feature disc
• Blu-ray Bonus Disc (containing approx. 100 minutes of extras)
• Words & Music (24 mins)
• Early Clues To A New Direction (18 mins)
• Liverpool (11 mins)
• The Beatles in Concert (12 mins)
• Three Beatles' Fans
