Joni Mitchell: NOW I understand! I just finished watching "American Master's presents Joni Mitchell: Woman of Heart and Mind". What a beautifully presented piece! I was "minimally aware" of her before, but the PBS documentary was very informative and helped me understand why she's so revered.
This woman was/is a deep, sensitive soul. . .yet a take-charge, honest stand-on-your-own-two-feet type of person. I am amazed at her story--even had a few tears at the end thinking about how she has triumphed. Finally got to hear her do A Case of You. You all were right--can't beat the original. Well, now I've got to add some Joni to my collection! Did anyone else see this?

Dammit! Iforgot that this was on! Does anyone know when it will re-air? In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

Thanks for posting this NuPwr319. I thought that this was an excellent documentary of Joni. There's alot of funky footage found throughout the hour and a half. Toward the end of the show it was mentioned that she never found the right bass player until Jaco Pastorious played with her. There was a short clip of them. In the instant that it played the genius in Jaco came alive with Joni's music. The next clip shows her looking sad and alone. This must have been when she heard of his death. This story is a gem, watch it if you can.

I was also floored by how intelligently she speaks about her music and her motivations. Not like the cryptic stuff we usually get from Prince.
