To me most of Queen's hits sound like novelty songs. Freddie was charismatic and they are talented musicians, but that's about it. And Jackson was talented as well, but nowhere near as talented as Stevie Wonder, Prince, Marvin Gaye and plenty of other acts who have not sold 300 million records, which to me makes him the most overrated artist ever.
I can't take away your opinion that MJ is overrated and to an extent, I agree but I don't agree with him not being as talented as the people you mentioned when he was a different type of artist than them and had a different skill set in which case he was better than them in certain areas. They were also better than him in certain areas as well.

Do be very careful. A Prince fan will never accept giving MJ credit. They'll underrate him especially when compared with so-called "serious artists".

Will you please quote what I've written to make you say that? I give Michael Jackson a lot of credit, I have done it in this thread. But apparently anyone who doesn't consider him the greatest entertainer ever is illogical, jealous and blah blah blah. I haven't said anything about him not being a serious artist, you brought that up.
I'm really getting bored now, so I'm signing off. Besides, you have sort of proved my point anyway: he is so overrated that some people won't even accept that others might not like him much.

Hudson said: He's only known for 2-3 songs though. He's hardly overrated considering those songs are bigger than he is himself.

One of my favourites, is "Just the two of us", it's credited to Grover Washington Jr., but its Bill on the vocals and wow those vocals give me chills and definitely would not put anyone to sleep. Will Smith's version maybe, but not Bill and Grover.

.

I like Just the Two of Us and Lovely Day.

In your opinion Prince is more talented than him but I respectfully disagree and IMO Michael was way more talented in certain areas than Prince. They were two different styles of artists, why even compare? Don't even know why you compared Stevie or Marvin as well.

[Edited 8/25/16 19:06pm]

I gave you a number of artist which I consider more talented than Michael Jackson but are not as popular to justify why I believe he is the most overrated artist ever. It is quite a linear argument: I expressed an opinion and justified it with examples. You respectfully disagree and that's fine, but that doesn't make my reasoning comical or illogical, and it doesn't show that I hate Michael Jackson.

I understand what you're saying, but it's not that hard to get it; his appeal was greater and wider than the other artists you mentioned.

Thats perfectly fine, you are entitled to say that. lol I don't "hate" them though but I feel strongly about my opinions in that I am sick and tired of them. I detest this current music industry to be perfectly honest. There are more talented acts out now besides them that deserve more credit and recognition. I back my claims with legitimate evidence as well, they are not "mindless claims" that cant backed by info. IMO, comparing a artist/entertainer to a artist/musician and insisting the artist/musician is more talented makes no sense to me. There totally different so not sure why one would compare them (Prince and MJ).

Agree, I think this is a more objective and fair critique of the those artists. You acknowledge they were different types of artists and they each had their own strengths talent wise.

Another very overrated act of the 1970s to now (Although really only huge stars in 1970s and 1980s) is KISS

.

Why are these guys so loved, they are a group of Jewish maths teachers who wear demon and animal makeup and play generic pop and metal. Their music is liked by mostly meatheads and I can assume very few Prince orgers listen to them, but they are hugely popular amongst white working class Americans (Mostly Eastern I assume).

.

I only like one song, the disco tinged, I was made for loving you and its very average rather than great, I understand to, it is not the usual Kiss sound either.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I'm no KISS fan but they basically were the template for what a rock band was, flashy in appearance and loud but also dark to an extent. Musically, in retrospect they have long since been surpassed countless times by countless bands but if you're just looking for a good time and perhaps a bit of nostalgia then KISS's music is tailor made just for such an occasion.
