Blood On The Dance Floor is the worst MJ song out of his entire discography for me. He doesn't handle songs with that pace well which includes Jam and Shout. It's impossible to understand what he's even singing about in those three songs.

I didn't like it either....but then again most of these "remix' albums are shitt! whofarted

Not this, it has 4 great songs: BOTDF, Is It Scary, Ghosts and Morphine.

MichaelJackson5 said: What about "Bad"? It's so funny. What about #1 hit-prototype-radiofriendly-song "YANA"? Michael had a formula after "Thriller": charity song+ rock song featuring a rockstar+ #1 hit prototype-song to lead+ collaboration with a popular name+ long videoclip. He always tried to do the same he did with Thriller hoping for the same results. He also wanted to recreate "We Are The World": remember his charity song in 2004? MJ went with whatever was popular to try and remain as mainstream, current and "sellable" as possible. His obsession with kids was pathological. He obsessed over children and their company. Little boys and little girls, though he obsessed even more with boys. He was more interested in LMP's children than he was in her. Children were all he thought about, all he wanted as company and all he had eyes for. If a child was in the room he would concentrate on nothing else. Even after the allegations he continued having children with him obsessive and uncomfortably every single day and every single trip. When he went to Brazil he had a sleepover with ten children in tents (nothing to do with that idiot Simmon's words). He befriended the Cascio kid and had Omer Bhatti live with him PERMANENTLY, even having the kid's parents work for him so he could have the kid close. He only wanted D Rowe so she could bear him children. He had zero interest in her. He just wanted the kids which is why he married LMP, cause he wanted kids. Kids, kids, kids. That's all he talked about, all he cared, all he was interested in. He should have seeked help

Man in the Mirror was and still is a great song. So is Liberian Girl (which he wrote in 1983). But I hear ya - each album after Thriller was formula based: Hottest guitarist (of the moment), a rock song or two, a duet with another industry icon, a "save the world" song.

All it did was limit MJ's creativity as an artist. And truthfully, if he had confidence in his own God-given talents, he should have realized that he didn't need other big names in his albums because as OTW proved, he could carry an album by himself.

I guess the pressure of topping Thriller clouded his judgement. He, being the perfectionist, put so much pressure on himself that he forgot what people loved about him in the first place and that's when things went downhill in America.

In fact, the song Bad was proposed as a duet with Prince but Prince turned it down. I Just Can't Stop Loving You was turned down by Whitney Houston and Barbara Streisand. In The Closet was supposed to feature Madonna.

MJ albums after Thriller are considered to be over-produced too, lacking any of the soul that permeated his work before Bad. Like his face, his approach seemed to be "the more the better".

I think the charity song you're referring to is What More Can I Give which MJ released after the events of 9/11 and released shortly after.

Which is BS. Yes, Off the wall and Thriller are great. But he's been there done that. Anything that came after (except Invincible) is just as great (Bad), pushing the envelope and moving a bit in less safe territory (Dangerous, HIStory, BOTDF).

I don't understand the reason for the release of the BOTDF album since Stranger in Moscow was the next single released in the US from HIStory. Sony barely promoted it in America to make matters worse. It would have made more sense to release Earth Song or This Time Around in America and continue promoting HIStory.

Pretty simple. The HIStory tour in Europe started back up when BOTDF was released. It probably was a mistake to release it in the US, but then again, there were still US fans that also wanted that album.

Most casual US fans didn't even know BOTDF was out at the time.

Other than the Barbara Walters interview MJ was rarely even mentioned between 1996 to 2001 in the media.

Many in the black. Community felt MJ abandoned his RnB roots with Bad.

Agree, BOTDF is a very great album with a lot of Michael's most underrated songs. Is It Scary, Morphine, Ghosts, BOTDF, and Superfly Sister are great gems.

Excactly. A lot of bullshit talking, as usual, going on in this thread. Anything on Dangerous, History and BOTDF is more adventurous, daring and less safe, than anything he has done before.

Exactly, people who talking this bullshit are not real fans and haven't bothered to listen to any of those albums. Dangerous, HIStory and BOTDF are way less pop friendly, more risky and artistic than his previous albums. Thriller is a straight up POP/ R&B album. The same with BAD, so I am not even sure why people are arguing that those albums aren't. I love all Michael's album. He has probably one of the most greatest catalogs ever.

Sorry but Bad is not as good as Thriller. It sounded great when it was first released because it was geared towards the pop audiences of the late 1980s. It was released just before I entered college and I spent two years following it and watching the videos for Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, Man in the Mirror, Dirty Diana and purchased the Moonwalker VHS cassette for the Smooth Ciminal short film.

There isn't one song on Bad that is as good as even Lady in my Life or Human Nature let along Beat It and Billie Jean.

Thriller was the perfect blend of RnB, Rock and early 80s pop. With Bad, the RnB elements were gone leaving a more generic pop album which sounds like a late 80s album while Thriller still sounds fresh today.

The videos were way cooler and MJ was like a cool super-talented cat during those years while during the Bad years, the public perception of him was an eccentric Howard Hughes type weirdo. Michael Peters choreography is more impressive than that from Jeffrey Daniel and Gregg Burge. None of the videos from Bad come close to the greatness of the video for Thriller.

Beat It is better than Bad and Dirty Diana combined while there is no Billie Jean level iconic song found in the Bad album.

The lack of a Rod Temperton penned song was sorely missing too. That man worked magic for MJ with Rock With You and Thriller.

Thriller loses points on my list because of The Girl Is Mine hrmph.....Say Say Say is a better duet....hence I put BAD above Thriller.

1. Off The Wall (1979)

2. HIStory (1995)

3. Got To Be There (1972)

4. BAD (1987)

5. Thriller (1982)

6. Dangerous (1991)

7. Music & Me (1973)

8. Invincible (2001)

9. Ben (1972)

10. Forever Michael (1975)

Adorecream

My rankings are different, I don't rank the Motown albums, as I haven't heard them all and its not fair to compare Kiddie Michael to the adult force of nature he was.

.

The top 4 are all very close.

1. Dangerous 96/100

2. Off the Wall 94/100

3. Bad 93/100

4. Thriller 91/100

5. History 82/100

6. Invincible 77/100

7. BODF 63/100 (Loses major marks for remixes, but first 5 songs are dope)

.

Posthumous

1. Xscape Deluxe 79/100

2. Michael 60/100

3. Xscape Standard 55/100

4. Icon 40/100 - Snore!

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I would rank MJ albums in this order:

1. Thriller (There's a reason it keeps on selling the most)

2. Dangerous (A lot of good songs left behind after the Chandler allegations)

3a. Bad (It's good, just doesn't age well although Liberian Girl exceptional)

3b. Off The Wall (Don't Stop and Rock With You are what make this album great)

4a. HIStory (mainly because They Don't Care About US is my favorite MJ song)

4b. Victory (Torture and State of Shock make this worthy for MJ fans, even though not a solo album)

5a. Invincible (underrated album, songs Whatever Happens, Break of Dawn make it a worthy purchase while YRMW still sounds good to me today)

5b. Trimph (Can You Feel It is incredible, worthy purchase for MJ fans for that one song)

6. Michael (Hold My Hand is great but too much Akon, love Monster and wish it wasn't a Cascio fake)

7. Xscape (The original song Xscape is much better)

8. Bad 25 (Al Capone is better than Smooth Criminal)

9a. Number Ones (only worth purchasing if you like One More Chance which I don't)

9b. Blood on the Dance Floor (yuck, but Ghosts isn't bad)

9c. This Is It (only worth purchasing if you like song This Is It which I don't)

10. Thriller 25 (remakes are a disaster)

he wasn't saying that on random or out the blue

he said that for a reason

he called out the system that drove him to play the game to extremity and with no true way to retreat back, it drove him on the brink

he acknowledged that he played the game while being misled to thinking he would be protected from any scrutiny, criticism or ridicule in the process, and realizing at that point the system was in position to dictate his story

all which made him want to "Scream"....

He never discussed what he was actually talking about. And you're not Michael Jackson, so don't pretend to know what he actually was talking about. And don't put any words in his mouth, since you simply don't know.

Since the album was his first statement since the allegations, it's rather obvious to assume, that it relates to those allegations (and beyond) one way or the other. But still. He never discussed his lyrics.
