Yes - 90125 I know this was considered their poppier album and had the massive hit Owner of a lonely heart. How's the rest of the album? I've been thinking of getting a cheesy arena rock album. Would this be a good place to start? | |

I think it's a really good album, chock-ful of solid, crisp songs. Nothing like their earlier records, and there's a touch of 80s cheese & wimpiness on it for sure, but if you like Owner... I bet you'd find plenty to enjoy on the rest of the record.
Our Song is one I like quite a bit.

Cheers for the review. Yes, I have a feeling I'll dig this album. Possibly a good mix of cheesy synthesizers, with a dance groove, combined with anthemic rock! I'll pay attention to the track you mentioned as well. | |

"Owner of a Lonely Heart" is one of the best produced songs, ever. . "Leave It" is my favorite. And from what I remember, it was a really difficult song to put together. There's also like 17 or 18 versions of the video that were made until the final "official" version was put out. Those layered vocals are fucking sweet. Pentatonix could take a lead from that song alone. The only thing that comes close, for me, is "For You" from Prince. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

Owner Of A Lonely Heart was one of my favorite pop records of that year. Interestingly that was the year pop and r&b stations were playing switch a roo. I would hear Yes,The Romantics, A new artist named Madonna,DerKommissar,etc on R&b station meanwhile if you turned to pop radio you would hear Joystick by the Dazz Band, Shannon, SOS Band,etc on pop station. Don't laugh at my funk

Great album. "It Can Happen To You" is my over-the-top, melodramatic cut, and can be found in a quick youtube search. I loved how a lot of veterans got a second wind in the eighties...not something we'll see again anytime soon.

. Man, I have said the exact same thing. It really is one of the most perfectly produced songs...ever. . I hate Yes. That 17 minute long prog rock nonsense garbage they called "songs". Then Trevor Horn stepped in and properly produced songs for them. I know the Yes-heads hate that era, but it is their best work. | |
