MJ's Black Or White & Foreigner Hot Blooded. This has been bugging me for years! does anyone else hear Foreigners Hot Blooded in Black Or Whites melody? I'm not saying Slash or anyone tried to copy the song but the melodies just seem to fit together so well. Every-time MJ sings ''I took my baby on a Saturday bang'' then i expect him to say ''got a fever of 103'' it's always drove me nuts cause each song reminds me of the other.
Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

Close enough to sound familiar but not so much that anybody is likely to get sued. Anyway Hot Blooded is practically All Right Now so, maybe it's good not to get too hot and bothered with the lawyers.

Very good point. Many songs may have similiar melodies but in this case,I don't think anyone is ripping anyone off.

It's not really about ripping anyone off. I think the fact they have similar melodies is coincidental. Itjust drives me nuts cause onesong always reminds me of the other! it's kind of like how a lot of people accused artists from stealing Tom Petty's riffs and melodies. When even he admited there's only so many guitar notes and chords out there.... lots of stuff can sound similar. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

The "Hot Blooded" chords always reminded me of The Stones "Brown Sugar" opening chords for some odd reason.

someone else mentioned that to me recently. And i can kinda see it. Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

MJ's been brought up for lawsuits for just about every hit song he had lol. I'm 100% certain that there are at least 5-10 more songs that listeners found similar to this song 25 years ago. [Edited 4/13/16 10:51am]

Now that you mention it I can hear the similarity...but only because your words influenced me to hear it. Much like Journey´s "Faithfully" reminds some people of Purple Rain...I never noticed a similarity until I read about it on the org. I think I also read on the org that Prince asked Journey if they were ok with him writing Purple Rain the way he did, because of the supposedly similar coda. - Other songs that are similar are Laid Back´s White Horse (Erotic City) and Marc Bolan´s song that sounds like Prince´s song Cream (or vice versa). And then there were those two Italian songwriters that claimed that the Most Beautiful Girl In The World sounded very similar to one of their early 70s hits. - Or Michael Jackson´s Billie Jean using a bassline that´s very similar to Rick James´s Ghetto Life. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

2015 interview You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
