Madonna receiving very negative media attention in Australia

Most news channels, sites and newspapers are all reporting very negative feedback from attending fans...many of whom are demanding refunds. Reports suggest up to a 3hr delay in taking the stage in Brisbane..and are being told to anticipate similar antics in Sydney this weekend.

The contrasts between how fans and media outlets reviewed Princes stay last month could not be further apart.

This is very true.

I was nervous about her coming to Australia as the 23years of neglect has helped build an enormous amount of negativity towards her and anything she does.

She only ever makes the news when something, anything gies wrong. Her falling at the brit awards was literally headline news that night, and then of course it was dissected by every media outlet and word of mouth was the ususal "old hag" comments. This has been snowballing for years...a country that loved her more than we loved Michael Jackson (she outsold his tour in 95), she was undisputed queen.

So when she skipped over us for 23 years her fans became haters and very vocal haters, stadiums of people turned against her, mostly for the reason of her age and that shes not "behaving" or "ageing" like a woman should. -- whatever that means.

Enter the Rebel Heart tour. Myself excited as hell to see her live again. The build up was a non-event. Any time i mentioned i was excited to see her i was met with stares and then ridiculed for getting tickets to the Pacemaker Tour..."shes so old she needs to retire" is something u hear constantly. It was not cool to say u were going to see her.

After the shows (i saw 2) i have not dared speak about how much fun i had or how great she was becuase thats "impossible, shes past it" etc., She did that FREE concert for fans here in Melbourne. it was a legitimate 2 hour show with rareties for fans who have waited so long to see her again. What did the news report? "She was 3 hours late...fans wait in rain for Madonna..." NOT THAT IT WAS A FREE CONCERT. NO.

Shes not welcome here at all. I hate to say this as a fan, but i'd understand and encourage her to never tour here ever again. The venim is too poisonous.

---- What is all this youth shit about? I can rember listening to artist my parents liked and not having a hissy fit. Do young people not realize that all the artist you like will be old one day but none of those artist will be still touring? We need to enjoy the legends while they are still around.

Right on! The legends of music are what keeps me sane in this world of such terrible music. I'm not a big fan of Madonna, but I don't believe artists should stop performing or touring just because they are no longer young. WTF??

I was at the Manchester show last December so can sympathise.

Don't get me wrong, I'm the biggest supprter of Madonna you'll ever meet, I've been a hardcore fan for over 25 years now but her behaviour towards her fans and coming on so late is just unprofessional and disrespectful. Personally, I wasn't so bothered that she came on late, what annoyed me was she cut the show short and basically told the audience to eff off for complaining she was late.

I think she's just at the stage of her career/life where she thinks she's untouchable and can do whatever she wants, afterall, she's Madonna.

Good luck getting as many people to see you live next time M!

Madonna's three-hour delay in Brisbane labelled 'breathtakingly arrogant'

http://www.theguardian.co...y-arrogant

The close-to-capacity crowd at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Wednesday night was told that the scheduled 9pm start had been pushed back to 10.30pm – at the earliest. Madonna finally appeared on stage at 11.22pm, joking that she was “hardly ever late”.

“It’s you people that get here early that’s the problem,” she said. “Stay home, do your hair and makeup, have a tequila.

So it's the fans fault confused So says Madonna.

I was at the Concert in Brisbane on Wednesday night. I have been a fan since the Borderline single in 1993. And even though this show was OK - it was not like the M I saw in 1993 at the Girlie Show at the MSC. I think she was going through the motionsDue to the late start - 11.15pm many had left and so many empty seats even in the premium seating where I was (the $500 seats) - four seats empty on one side of me, one on the other and numerous empty seats above me. This made for a poor audience with so many empty seats and the rest were pissed off. I myself did not get home until well after 3.30am and had to go to work with no sleep due the show starting so late. Also dont forget were were already annoyed as we brought tickets originally for a Saturday night show and it was moved to a Wednesday night - so it was even more important to keep it on time. Also the venue had no transport running as the trains finished at 12.15am so many were stranded. This was NOT Cool at all & showed great disrespect to fans.
Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

It's not true at all that it was all negative. There were some negative things but many positive reviews as well of the shows in the media.

There was a problem with the first show in Brisbane, but the shows in Melbourne went off fine and started at a perfectly reasonable time. I know someone who went to the Melbourne shows and they were blown away and said it was the best show they're ever been to. The second night in Brisbane started at a perfectly reasonable time and everything went fine. How come no one talks about that?

The venom comes mostly from tabloids, but respected music publications wrote positive reviews of her time in Australia but everyone ignores those.

It just seems to me with Madonna people always focus on the negative and the mistakes she makes, but they ignore the many positive wonderful performances she gives.

Whereas with other artists the negative is shut down or whitewashed, and they only write the positive things. I don't think it's right at all. She is very underappreciated misunderstood artist.

well as far as promotion, making concerts videos and songs available, that is still what Prince fans would want him to be like.

And this issue is just Australia

Yes! This post is signature worthy and could probably its own thread. I think the only artist who as a kid looked old was Tina Turner, but my reaction was "she still rocks" and went to see her in concert more than once.

Madonna has also been appearing to be intoxicated & drunk on stage. I think she is depress over the rejection of her son and losing custody of him.She is crying out for help. I think she should cancel the rest of her tour and postpone it until she's in a better state of mind. She's completely falling apart in front of everybodies eyes.

As a fan, I'm aware that she does not indulge in drugs and alcohol. She could be very well be just plain exhausted due to being on a rigorous world tour and keeping up with all of her scheduled shows. The stress about her son could only be wearing on her more.

In the 'tears of the clown' show she tells the audience she wants to drink on stage and it's the first time she has ever done it.

The whole show is on you tube - it seemed like a good idea, but she was in a bad state of mind.

Josephine Georgiou

The 17-year-old British girl whose breast was exposed by Madonna on stage is defending the singer’s inappropriate actions.

Madonna “noticed” Josephine Georgiou in the audience and invited her on stage in Brisbane. Once there, Madonna said: ‘She’s the kind of girl that you just want to slap on the a**,” then she yanked Georgiou’s top down, exposing the girl’s breast.

The mother-of-3 added: “Oh shit. Oh sorry, sexual harassment.”

But Madonna, who is 57 and rumored to be bisexual, didn’t stop there. She gestured to her vagina and told the youngster: “You can do the same to me if you like… you want to make my hole big again?”

Madonna’s behavior angered many who say she went too far. Many are calling for Josephine and her mother, Toni Georgiou, to sue the icon.

But Toni is thrilled that Madonna “spanked” her daughter on stage.

Responding to the growing outrage, Josephine said, “Seriously, why would I sue Madonna for the best moment of [my] life?”

“She was calling me a Victoria’s Secret model the whole time I was on stage, which is so flattering.”

Madonna’s handlers "claim" she was not drunk at the time.

Especially since Janet was blacklisted for years! For accidently exposing her breast. But Madonna can snatch off anothers womans top & tongue kiss a woman in front of millions and be praised. disbelief

doesn't the venue have something to do with it? If Janet did that at her own concert it wouldn't have been an issue.
And nothing wrong with kissing a woman, even if it is by another woman.

Nothing wrong with that at all , but this Madonna was more than just kissing. Her mother is proud her daughter was sexually assaulted by Madonna. omg

Not true. She hasn't done anything where she appears to be drunk. There is no way she could do complicated choreography being drunk. She jokes around about drinking and taking shots. The tequila she uses for shots is water! I know fans who have tasted it. It's like a movie. People in movies aren't really drunk when they appear to be taking shots!

Little too late to cancel it as there are only two dates left!

Yes it would have been an issue! I'm refering to the double standard. Janet wouldn't have NEVER gotten away with kissing another woman @ an award show like The MTV Video Awards back then. Like Madonna making out with Christina Aguilera or rolling on the floor showing her undies in a wedding dress.. She most definitely wouldn't have gotten away with pulling a woman's breast out either.

I really don't know why she bothers anymore. More of the same fake media controversy that she has fed off her whole entire career. The pity is she has built an amazing catalogue of pop songs. She won't embrace the love there is for her own music - it has to be about provoking or insulting or vulgarity. Still.
It's like if Prince still walked around in his white ruffled shirt and purple trenchcoat. It's not just her age, she just doesn't seem to have learnt anything or evolved at all. It started to get sad about 10 years ago. Now it's just confuse I thought she was smart - now not so much.

She does embrace the love for her music. The controversy is not all of her own making. It's partly from the tabloids to sell more copies.

But part of who Madonna is expressing herself and having a strong personality, including using sexuality. Why should she stop being herself because she is older and other people have stereotypes about how older people should be? It's only sad if you stereotype based on age.

And has Prince really changed so much? People don't have a problem with him being Prince, I guess because he's a man.

I love her so much. And haters be damned, I hope she never stops being who she is. Sad that society wants to take away people's individuality.

This 'situational' morality...which is exactly as it sounds (depends on the situation)...that the female 'gender' in general is more prone to...really has to be understood by the wider society, particularly by (clueless) heterosexual men...in order to understand the behaviour of 'women' like Madonna, the response of the young woman she groped, her 'Mother' and many others.

(E.g...Lena Dunham can molest her own sister and along comes a bunch of women to justify it and explain it away).

The double standards of the women commenting in this thread around this groping issue is another huge clue...we know what many of these 'lesbianic' minded women would be saying, if it was a man who groped the girl.

I'll disregard comments from homosexual men who support Madonna on this occasion, as it's irrelevant to my point.

I say all of this dispassionately, it's a given....not something that needs to be 'debated' or argued about...and I don't expect the depraved to care.

The behaviour of Madonna is beyond 'sad'...but then it's best (for men) not to have high expectations of her in the first place.
