This is the funniest Twitter nonsense I've ever seen. That @MartinShkreli guy says some person named Daquan took 15 million dollars in "bitcoins" to "own" Kanye's new album. And scammed him.

.

Today Kanye is on Twitter whining about how he took a hit for his Tan Couture Hefty Bag Sweatpants Collection and is out 53 million. Maybe this is why he had to plug in a ridiculous, hilariously sad commercial for his wife's outdated sex tape on his latest single?

.

SNL performance was f'n weird - what is this song a musical blog post? They were like in a moving Tardis singing on top of each other in those weird Mad Max flesh tone clothes. El Debarge was there for some reason. Kelly Price looked stuffed into that outfit and confused as to why she was there too.

.

Someone said this album could be relevant for weeks, months, even years. lol

This is what I don't understand about people with money.

If he were serious about fashion design he would've used a fraction of that money and enrolled at Parsons for a few years. Antonio Banderas enrolled at a prestigious fashion design school recently.

Instead this dude was paid to speak to kids who pay to go there SMH.

.

If Kanye could design plain white men's t-shirt that cost 3 dollars to make, sold for six, and were made in America he'd be a freakin working class hero. Instead he is designing Mad Max costumes for who?

Well consider me deprived of such quality. Whenever I see him live its screaming nonsense. Whenever I hear his records they sound the same. If he's the best musician out there its a sad state of affairs for music.

This couldn't be further from the truth. I think it best that you took the time to actually listen to one of his albums (preferrably My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy) before you make such claims about music in general. Otherwise, you come off ignorant and prejudiced in favour of the music you grew up with (like almost every other person born in the 80s and before - sigh... what a cliche).

To be fair, like any person with ears, I loved "The College Dropout" as a time capsule for the end of the packaged recorded music era and I enjoyed Kanye as a producer for a few years.

I didn't make any generalisations about music?

As for Yeezus - whilst I don't think it's his best, the record was almost universally acclaimed by critics. The album has some exceptional songs on it - New Slaves, I Am a God, Black Skinhead... etc.

And for the record... I wouldn't be on a prince forum if I don't listen to albums from the 80s lol.

I thought MBDTW was brilliant, and his best work yet. I haven't enjoyed much since. This new record sounds very unfocused. A couple of interesting ideas are floating amongst too much pointless dreck.

I will say that it does sound like a musical representation of what it might be like to be inside that scatterbrained, megalomaniacal head of is, but it's just too exhaustingly self-important to be interesting.

lol I was just fuckin with your robo "you're awful for not liking Kanye's garbage" TMZ reply. I don't blame folks for buying into his "legend" and his stuff but to compare this to any decent musician and their best offerings is just flawed. Also sidebar I completely forgot "Yeezus" was a product of his, not just a silly codename.

Its just another facet of Kanye West's undeniable talent that he can inspire his fanatics to declare opposition to his uprising as "conceited". This is a man who named his daughter North, nicknamed himself "Yeezus", sells a "fashion" line of oversized nets and sacks, and married America's biggest reality whore.

Listened to this once yesterday, and FWIW I found it to be nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Given all the weird shit that happened in the run up to its release I was kinda anticipating a complete trainwreck, but I think he's managed to avoid that. It's still probably the worst album of his that I've listened to, all the others (College Dropout, Late Registration and MBDTF) have been pretty damn great actually, so this definitely pales in comparison to those but in its own weird fragmented and fucked up way it has its charms. There are some really lovely moments here, the opener Ultralight Beam is quite beautiful but naturally Kanye kinda completely ruins the moments of beauty with all those really jarring misogynist fucked up lyrics that are littered throughout the album. Overall not something I'll probably play a lot, but I can understand some of the praise even if I don't agree.

Also on a semi-related note, I started the free trial of Tidal to listen to the album and was really annoyed to learn they don't have The Rainbow Children on it, wtf is up with that? It's a great album but I don't actually have a copy so I would have loved to have it on a streaming service but it isn't up there mad sorry, I'm sure this has been discussed to death on the main forum but I needed to vent.

I think it's funny how Prince drops an album on tidal and people go crazy on Prince and Kanye streams it on Tidal a week before it drops and not one person anywhere on twitter is going crazy on him or complaining. And not one fan is telling Kanye Tidal sucks and is a terrible platform etc etc etc. Funny how shit works

---NOW STREAMING ON TIDAL---

I'm a big fan of his first 5 albums, Late Registration being a favourite. After Yeesus, I thought that was it for me, but this new one is surprisingly good!

With that said, I think the album could have benefited slightly with the early configuration...

[Edited 2/14/16 0:04am]

Waves is a must IMO so I'm not this configuration but it's cool sounding together

I've seen quite a few people complain about being forced to sign up for Tidal to listen and say how shit it is, certainly on a Kanye fan forum and possibly on Twitter as well (although the replies under Kanye tweets are frequently some of the dumbest shit ever so I don't spend too long looking over them lol.)

Btw what do you dislike about Tidal? Is it just it or do you dislike streaming sites as a whole? IDK I'm trying the free trial and certainly won't subscribe as my family has a Spotify subscription already, but I'm not really finding it particularly horrible, doesn't seem to be hugely deficient compared to Spotify from what I've observed.

Maybe people care so much about Prince that they care what he does and doesn't do, and couldn't care less about Kanye.

I've looked at Kanye's timeline and no kind of criticism is being tossed his way that was tossed at Prince by Prince fans. Like that you have no career that's why you're giving your music away on the only platform that will pay you type of stuff aimed at Prince. BTW I love tidal and mostly all streaming services, mainly because if you're joe schmo in your home studio working hard trying to be a musician and put a project out, you don't need a label or to travel the country with CD's in your trunk anymore. THATS GOOD for musicans and music lovers.

Ah okay fair enough on the Tidal thing, I misread your comment. I have definitely seen Kanye fans complain about Tidal but again fair enough if you observed it being complained about much more prevalently by Prince fans. I would hazard a guess that the fact that Prince fans demographically are going to be a fair bit older than Kanye ones means that they're going to be a lot more resistant to adopting newer technologies for listening to music. Obviously that's a sweeping generalisation but i feel it's broadly true.

I was going to ignore this thread but this happened...

http://www.xxlmag.com/new...uckerberg/

He continued about how he was rehearsing his speech for the Grammys, which he said he wouldn’t attend “unless they promise [him] the Album of the Year.” That quickly turned into how he knows people are “tired of music controlled by money and perception,” and eventually he started addressing Mark Zuckerberg, the head and creator of Facebook.

“Mark Zuckerberg invest 1 billion dollars into Kanye West ideas,” pleaded ‘Ye. “Mark Zuckerberg I know it’s your bday but can you please call me by 2mrw. You love hip hop, you love my art… I am your favorite artist but you watch me barely breathe and still play my album in your house…World, please tweet, FaceTime, Facebook, instagram, whatever you gotta do to get Mark to support me…I’m this generation’s Disney… I want to bring dope shit to the world… I don’t have enough resources to create what I really can…Mark, I am publicly asking you for help…”
