Think about it for a minute...Most people would know the Black Actor Blair Underwood before knowing the Black Actor Joe Morton...Blair still gets cast as Lead in Primetime Dramas...Blair is younger than Joe and Hollywood Likes his Pretty face...I'm glad Joe plays the Hell out of Papa Pope becuz now he's getting Primetime work...

According to the liner notes for his greatest hits compilation album (The Hits/The B Sides) Prince wrote I Wanna Be Your Lover for her as well as Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad. He definitely had/has a thing for female musicians. Definitely looking forward to seeing the ep devoted to her. One truly talented girl from back in the day. I think they use to call her baby fingers

I look forward to the Patrice Rushen episode as well as Johnny Taylor's. Patrice picked up where Roberta Flack left off as far as female musician/composers go. It's hard to believe she is 61 now. We as fans tend to think as we age our musical superstars don't. It's shocking to see how they look now as opposed to how they looked in their prime particularly if they haven't been in the spotlight regularly. Don't laugh at my funk

- "You Know What's Up" and "Where I Want To Be" are his biggest hits I think.... - Here's another song that didn't do anything for him but had nice elements to it. - - - Just because... - [Edited 1/29/16 10:33am]

Well truth is I don't know anything by Donnell Jones outside of You Know What's Up and Where I Wanna Be two good songs. I know he's come out with other stuff but nothing that kept my interest. The one time I saw the dude back in 2002 on a summerfest tour (for free thank god) dude was horribe. Dude sung to his own tracks and still sounded horrible. Maybe he's improved his stage show since but I wouldn't want to see this guy perform live again if it was free. Don't laugh at my funk

Don't know. The last time I saw them, the sisters were gone and there were 2 different girls in the group. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

James wrote a letter taunting Joe and Joe took the letter and turned it into a song!!! Prior to that in incident James got angry over some comments Joe made and took a shot at him. Joe also left music to join Nation of Islam but quit and came back to music and continued to have hits until he had a heart attack. I think this would be a really good Unsung.

LBC mentioned it before. I'm just familiar with those 2 songs. Most of the time I'm just teasing LBC about Joe Tex. I just haven't taken the time yet to listen to the rest of his catalogue. I actually like Rufus Thomas. Joe Tex seems like he has some similarities to Rufus. Rufus would make a good Unsung too. Don't laugh at my funk

Joe did a lot of clown songs like Rufus. But Joe would also do straight up soul and r&b tunes also like Sam Cooke or Otis Redding. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Only interested in the Patrice Rushen episode. Never really knew alot about her. Even when she was at the height of her vocal career back in the early 80's, I don't recall reading or hearing much about her story. I'm interested in finding out what her time at Elektra Records was like. I know she was very unhappy about her last vocal album she did in 1987 on Arista Records. She did not speak well of Clive Davis. She said that was the first time she had someone standing over her shoulder critiquing every move she made. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

That's fine..The bottom line is you've heard of him and you remember him from the 90's....A lot of Artists from the 90's did not carry over into the 2000's...

Her story should be really interesting.I recall hearing about how,in the early 80s,she was disappointed with the lack of promotion most of her singles were getting. So when she recorded "Foget Me Nots" in 1982,she asked her friend Quincy Jones for advice and he told her to hire an outside promotional team and it worked....the song became a huge hit for her.It became her signature hit.I'm sure she will talk about this in her Unsung episode.
As for Clive Davis.....all he cares about is making money. He doesn't let his artists be themselves. He tries to get them to make the most "commercial" music possible, just to sell alot of records.Patrice strikes me as a strong,true-to-herself type artist so I'm not surprised that she had problems at Arista.

Joe has a longer resume but most people in their 30's remember Blair from the 80's/90's Mainstream Hit Drama L.A Law...After the show ended Blair continued to get Primetime work which made him more visible than Joe...TV TRUMPS Broadway every single time..Keep in mind Blair is 51 & Joe is 68...Not too far in age...
