I gave a quick listen and overall impressed but by no means is this in any way groundbreaking. But we're talking about Bowie who has done it all and this just adds to his amazing catalog. Lazarus is already in my top 10 Bowie songs...brilliant Flying to Dubai tomorrow so I'll be giving this a proper listen on my new Bose headphones..can't wait The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Prince needs to listen to Bowie's last two albums to learn how to make a record in the latter stages of his career. I love Blackstar!!!!!

David Bowie died. Oh my god. I don't even know what to say. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

So glad that he got the album out and got the good reviews.

I don't fucking believe it. Not a sign. He was so busy living he didn't have time for dying. That makes this album even more poignant. Now I know what Lazarus is about. A great one gone before his time... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Without wanting to start a fight, does anyone else think the last track on the album is (musically) the kind of thing Prince could/should be doing now if he wasn't too busy writing party jams and seduction ballads ? The synths sound quite Little Red Corvette/Stand Back-ish, with added jazz horns. Even the guitar solo is similar to his kinda playing.

I would tend to agree although...a nearly 60 year old should be allowed to party.

Anybody wanna take a crack at explaining the "Black Star" video? Or just the message of the song in general Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one bird.

There is no definitive answer. That's what the end is all about.

The lyrics of 'Dollar Days' When he sings I'm dying to I'm hearing dying too. It's my favorite song of Blackstar. - Cash girls suffer me, I’ve got no enemies

I decided I could only get into one Bowie album at a time, not counting Blackstar which I've been playing constantly. I was going to start with Diamond Dogs, per Org recommendations, but I took at a gander at the Young Americans record on youtube and became quickly obsessed. I had no idea he was funky at one point. This is going to be quite a long and interesting ride. Thanks Org, and thank you David! "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

I'm glad it will be interesting for you...and not painful as it is for me and other people. There are so many great albums... I always bought the Ryko cds for the extras. But one of my favorites (which I will listen to again when I can) is this one:

If you can (if they aren't over-priced with his demise :eyeroll:) buy the Ryko cds that have great sound and bonus cuts. Otherwise, buy original vinyl, if you can. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

David Live is one case where if recommend getting the more recent remastered version instead of the Ryko version. The sound is just so much better.
