Pandora Ordered to Pay Labels Higher Royalty Rates!

About time! They have been ripping off the muziq industry for years! Hopefully the artist can get a bigger cut now..Which is barely anything now.

GOOD. If it's too hard to pay a higher but still paltry royalty rate, then they should not enter into that business, skraight up

Pandora hasn't ripped off anyone, lets be clear what the article stated. wink

"Pandora uses a compulsory license created by Congress with royalty rates set by a three-judge government body known as the Copyright Royalty Board."

There rate Pandora pays per 100 song was and is set by the US government. The increase in cost will incur because of two things: 1) Pandora’s current royalty rates are set to expire this year. 2) The increase is do because Copyright Royalty Board has made adjustment in concurrence with the increase in the rate of inflation.

Needless to Pandora's well in their right to ask for a lower (naturally) royalty rate. Should Pandora receive a lower rate, HELL TO THE NO? Companies always cry broke. lol

Artist will get their money when they get off the record label contract plantation. Independent artist are getting paid... http://prince.org/msg/8/419903

Streaming is a niche market, bands, singers, and singer-songwriters need people buying their records, not renting to listen. They need a base a new generation of loving music consumers. I have my "atomic clock music streaming melt-down" ticking. I'll be back to say, "I told you so." lol
