Joan was bad! I remember liking most of the songs from her debut joint. St. Teresa was just one of the gems on there. Thanks for the reminder. -"I had dream about Ray Charles last night, and he could see just fine."

People think Joan "fell off" because she didn't have mainstream staying power after "One of us"...She never stopped doing Gigs and popping up on shows...Some artists wanna be Superstars, Some just wanna share their Gift and make a living..

- You're right. Apparently she's done stuff with live dates with The Funk Brothers and a bunch of other stuff since the mid-90's. - Here's another favorite from "Relish" - - - Live from 2012 -

Helpful that album sales are no longer an issue. She can just tour and exist that way. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Love this lady.
Here's Joan killing "what becomes of the broken hearted", from the funk bros doc Standing in the Shadow of Motown. Best part of the movie:
Here's Patti Smith's birthday concert a few years back. She tells a cute story about how "St Theresa" was the first song she bought on itunes, and then brings Joan out to sing it. Joan kills it.
The highlight of Joan's live shows is usually her cover of Sonng Boy Williamson's "Help Me", which was also on Relish. She expands the lyrics, makes it about drugs, sex, and death, and usually kills it.
