Seriously? neutral

Yes, except for "Rapper's Delight" which is the exception that proves the rule.

I hate every Nirvana song because I think they all suck, and Nirvana begat the crap that is now called "rock and roll". Nirvana spawned talentless posers like Pearl Jam. But there is one Pearl Jam song I like, which is also the exception that proves the rule. I've only heard it once and don't know the title. All I know is that I think it's about rockets or spaceships or something outer space, and the singer doesn't sound like that ridiculous Eddie Whats-His-Name that ruins all their songs.

If anyone knows this song, tell me the title. I can tell you this - it sounds like actual rock and roll, and not that driving E-chord, totally distorted phlegm they usually release.

"Rhythm Of The Night" by DeBarge----I hate this song with a passion lol In the early 80s,these type of Carribean-sounding songs were trendy, but this song is pure shit.Come to think of it,I'm not too fond of any of DeBarge's uptempo songs. They only excelled at ballads.

EDIT - replied to the wrong post, LOLO. Sorry!

But I have to ask - as a guitarist, don't you love the chord progression? I think it's totally badass. The way it moves, the way it resolves back to the Bminor, and the chorus chords - I think the progression is pure genius.

Never cared a whole lot for the lyrics, though.

Rodeo, you ARE the second funkiest white man in America after Bobby Z wink

No, the Funkiest White Man in America is Steve Cropper. Then me. I'm not sure where Bobby Z ranks. I've never thought of him as funky, but rather as a rocker. But you could be right. I'll have to think about it.

"I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston

That song is so overrated. One of the most played-out songs of all time.

Have you tried Dolly Parton's original? She wrote it.

.

I know, I should've been more specific. I actually meant Whitney's version/take of it. I almost never hear Dolly's original :/

Of course everyone views music differently and opinions on music/musicians is highly subjective, but obviously Lenny is so popular and critically acclaimed for a reason. You find his music boring probably because he's not controversial and therefore is mainstream-friendly, but who says musicians have to be controversial to be talented. But no, I wouldn't expect the majority here to be fans of rock musicians. I'd guess rock is one of the least favorite genres here on the org.

Ghetto music is any kind of music performed by young and mostly urban people who have poorly made songs with a lot of technological assistance and sampling.

.

The songs will often refer to drinking copious amounts of alcohol, promoting or using illegal drugs, crass materialism and labelism and partying in an antisocial manner. Often the artists will have badly spelled or hip names and be festooned in tattoos, be from the lower levels of education and work and have an antisocial fuck you attitude to society. Bruno Mars is a cocaine addict, who has been arrested for drug dealing and assault. Such music will also usually have rappers in it as well.

.

Other ghetto music is ho music, which is performed by scantily clad and sexually libidinous lyrics and imagery. Examples Kesha, Nicki Minaj and Pussycat dolls. These women objectify the neagtive sterotype of a "Ho" personified by misogynistic rap artists.

.

To me ghetto music is not music, its processed beats and samples with some person swearing and talking to a drum machine beat.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

And all you Nirvana haters can suck it. lol

Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, etc.......they all kick ass! For me, that was rock's best period. Better than those lame ass hair bands.
