Rauw Hees Teder, a compilation CD by Dutch band The Scene, whose singer The (short for Matheus) Lau recently died. Yeah, sometimes you don't miss someone until they're gone. [Edited 7/15/15 8:59am]

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

^KoolEaze, I've only heard the Andy Allo track from Migs' latest. How's the rest? Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

I absolutely love the rest, too. But I must say I like the Andy Allo song the most . Never thought I´d ever say that about Andy Allo but it just goes to show you how misplaced she was as part of Prince´s band and tours. The song with Meshell Ndegeocello is great, too. The whole album is very cohesive and always manages to cheer me up. I discovered Miguel Migs here on the org in the associated artists forum. There was a thread about that Andy Allo song "This Feelin", and I liked it so much that I listened to it on Youtube on repeat for days and nights. Then I looked up more Miguel Migs songs and mixes on Youtube, downloaded some of them and then went and ordered the CD. Took a very long time until it finally arrived at the store, I have no idea why it took so long. I´m the kind of listener who discovers artists on Youtube or blogs, or on Facebook, and then, when I like their music on Youtube or even download it there, I always make sure I buy the CD to support the artist. That´s why, personally speaking for myself, I don´t think that downloads are the main reason why the music industry is suffering. The internet, in my opinion, is what radio used to be. You discover new music, maybe download it, but if you really like the music and the artist and the album is good then of course you buy the CD or at least go to the show when the artist in question is on tour in your vicinity. As long as an album is good and not packed with mediocre songs and as long as it´s reasonably priced most oldschool music afficionados over 25 will buy the CD or at least buy it on itunes. - If you like melodic, soulful house, vocal house and deep house with great vocals, then this album is for you. If you´re not really into house, then maybe you won´t like it but it actually is not only an album for hardcore house fans ( and believe me, I am not really a hardcore house fan). I also happen to like South African House DJ legend Black Coffee , especially the stuff he did with South African Queen of Soul Bucie. So, if you like that type of music, go and get Miguel Migs´s album. Or just check it out and give it a listen on Youtube. Most of the album, if not all of it, is there on Youtube, and Miguel Migs does not seem to care. Just goes to show you how mellow he is about it and how much he believes in his music, in my opinion. I think if the music is good and reasonably priced then enough people will buy the album anyway, regardless of Youtube. I know I will. So, thanks to Youtube and downloads, Miguel Migs found a new listener who´s willing to spend money on his CDs and buy his back catalog, too. I wish Prince and WB would loosen up a bit as far as Youtube videos go. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I love it! The vocals are a bit messy though. The songs sounded much better in concert, and were easier to understand. The lyrics sound very mumbled. I bought the CD and it did not have a lyric sheet. The vinyl eventually came out and has a lyric sheet. VERY APPRECIATED. It should have been in the CD as well.

Still worth owning though. There's a pdf of the lyric booklet on his site http://blackmessiah.co Can't find it right now as I'm on the train. ----------

I didn´t say that D´ Angelo mumbled during the recording. It´s the recording process and mix that make the lyrics sound a bit difficult to decipher. In my opinion, D´Angelo is a great singer, songwriter and musician, and his albums are all a very enjoyable listen as far as sound and production goes but for some reason the lyrics are way too buried in the mix, for lack of better words. I´m not a musician or sound engineer but the lyris sound a bit off on Black Messiah but I still love the album and its sound, and of course the vocals. They just sound differently mixed compared to Brown Sugar and Voodoo. I don´t think that D´Angelo mumbles at all, I´m a big fan since day one and have always believed in him and defended him here during the last 15 years when people here counted him off. Far be it from me to say that he mumbles. But still, the vocals sound a bit odd and are hard to understand. Does not take away from the greatness and great sound of the album though. I really like how it sounds. Haven´t enjoyed an album this much in a long, long time. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I appreciate the feedback mister
Huge fan of D'Angelo, I truly hope that "Voodoo" gets released a special edition with the acoustic versions as bonus tracks.
As for his recording voice, if I'm not mistaken I think that has always been his forte. I'm assuming he wants to divert the listener's attention to the musicianship as opposed to his singing, but then again I could be wrong.
I've always appreciated the intricate details in his music. I'm pretty sure this one will have loads of them. Definitely consider this as my next purchase
