There was a song playing on MTV last year from the very early 2000's and I was sure I heard it before and I tuned in at its very distinctibe instrumental section. I've just accepted ill never know what that song was. Has anyone else loved a song and lost it forever?

Oh my gosh, YES!!! I absolutely HATE that. That's why I'm going to download the Shazam Music App on my phone whenever I hear a song so that I can find out what the name of it is and who sings it.

Do you remember any of the lyrics? Google them

Earlier this year I kept hearing this on the radio but no station would ever say who it was. I was going crazy trying to figure it out.

I finally did when it came on while I was at the car detailer standing next to a guy with the iheart app. who was able to help me in under 30 seconds.

Can't remember the words but the music was like

When I was about 7 years old, there was this song called "Sweet Memories" that I remember hearing quite a bit for a while. Then the song disappeared. Never heard it played on the radio (or anywhere) again -- ever. I spent 20+ years vaguely recalling this ghost of a song, occassionally asking people if they remembered it (of course they said no), sometimes searching the internet (but aside from the title, I didn't know any of the lyrics) with no luck. I couldn't find it anywhere. It was like the song never actually existed and I just fabricated the whole thing in my head.

Then one day when I wasn't even looking, I stumbled across it...

I love whoever invented Shazam. Bless them.

Before Shazam I'd try to remember the song lyrics and type them into Google and if I was lucky I'd find the song artist and song.

I stump Shazam regularly, so I STILL listen distinctly for a string of distinct text or hook to try and Google later.

I love this story. I had quite a few childhood songs or releases I couldn't get anyone to remember until the glorious Internet.

It was a huge hit, but as it is with today's radio stations that have announcers and not deejays, they don't always care to announce the title or artist, when they have to namecheck their local car dealership and rundown today's weather forecast.

There was a reggae song years ago in the early 90s that I heard but never found. The chorus was something like, "Walk right in / Walk right in the shebeen" (or something phonetically similar to that). I never found that one, despite having googled snippets of the lyrics I can remember.

One day, hopefully, I'll stumble across it or hear it in the back of a taxi. It'll probably won't live up to the warm and fuzzy place it has in my memory, in the cold light of day, but I'd still like to discover it.

My sucky phone seems not to like Shazam, and there's often too much noise for it to work properly anyway, so I often find little lyric snippets I've noted down to search for later. It's like getting a prize when you retrieve something good that way.

I heard those songs on movies-radio, for a reason, because they were famous-important, but I was a child and ignorant

when I grew up and Internet became widespread, I learned the titles (and name of the artist/s) of many songs...

Years ago, I heard a song by a Blues artist, I didn't know the name of the song and misheard the name of the singer. I searched for Captain Jack Dupree and found nothing. Years later I saw the name, Champion Jack Dupree and thought, that's the guy!

I have seen Beat Street a kajillion times! That's just a 12" version of "Renegades Of Funk" by Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force called "Renegades Chant".

I remember seeing a new wave video around 1979, and the chorus was a guy whistling a tune. I've vompletely forgotten anything about it, except that I think the fellow whistling was wearing a hat and a raincoat and was probably from England.
