Trying to find the name of a 80s female vocal group

The only thing I can remember is that they were a Vanity 6 type knock-off group and they had one minor Minneapolis sound type hit, that had a video that was filmed in a desert. I also remember that one member looked like Vanity or Apollonia, but she wasn't the lead singer.

SoulAlive	I love the Madame X album! Bold,edgy and funky,it's one of the finest R&B albums of the late 80s.
