Cameo appreciation thread I'm a huge Cameo fan and for years,I've been trying to find their 1980 album Feel Me on CD.For some reason, this particular title was difficult to find.Well,I'm happy to see that it has finally been issued on CD,along with their classic Cameosis album. Two great albums on one CD!

I have noticed you have a very similar taste in music. I love Cameo, the first song I knew was Single Life (where Larry is dresses up as a bride in the video), which I absolutely loved. Of course a bit later they hit it bigtime with Word Up and Candy, and that is when I bought my fist Cameo album. Then I started to work my way back with their albums. I have fond memories of the She's Strange album, with She's Strange and Talking Out The Side Of Your Neck, but the whole album is great. They have become one of my favorite funk bands, their older albums are also great! RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

They don't get enough props..but they are one of my favorites and one of the greatest funk bands ever.Word up was the first time I ever heard of them at the age of 4-5yrs old back in 1986..The sound of that song still to this day..Hard edge...my dad bought it on album..I used to love to hear Back and forth as a kid.lol.my brother ended up buying machismo on cassette tape..i used to listen to it as well..
.But yeah I was suprised when I realized they went back ten years before Word up.. My dad was like oh yeah I bought their first album"cardiac arrest" back in the 70s.then I would see old videos of them..she's strange, attack me with your love, single life.and the radio would play flirt, sparkle, shake your pants..im saying to myself.this is nothing like word up..lol. When I heard "I just wanna be,Riga mortis and it's serious on the radio..I was like holy sh-t!.These guys were putting out funk in different forms, disco funk, electronic funk, new wave funk, rap funk.I love great bass playing..every funk band has it..Cameo had that locked down.I didn't appreciate all of cameo at first.but as I got older..my ears matured..which happened with me and alot of old school acts..I started buying their albums and cds..So im glad they're finally putting them out on cd now..Feel me is a better album than cameosis I think..Now the album they produced for Mantra and La connection needs to get in print..But Cameo I love you..If there's a Funker's hall of fame..They in no question..no doubts [Edited 4/2/15 6:18am] [Edited 4/2/15 6:20am]

My favorite from that album. Alligator Woman is my favorite album from the band. I like every track off the album especially the album closing ballad For You. [Edited 4/2/15 20:54pm] Don't laugh at my funk

I think Cameosis and Alligator Woman are their best albums
Knights Of The Sound Table is also a strong album.

Oh for fucking crying out loud! Just because Prince has become a jackass that doesn't allow his fans to appreciate his music appropriately for the time we are living in. That does not mean an "Appreciation" thread for other artists have to go bare! Post 'em up!
I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Love Cameo, they have at least two dozen hard funk jams that stand up to the best of anybody. But they could also pull off midtempo and ballad material too. My fav albums are Alligator Woman, Feel Me and Ugly Ego. I have been wishing Larry Blackmon would get it together for a full-fledged new album for more than 10 years at least. Word Up! was the huge crossover in 1986 but it seemed to send them into a downward spiral. I want them to get to their Funk Funk, I Just Want to Be, Freaky Dancin, Just Be Yourself roots and BRING IT for the 21st century. WE NEED THE C-FUNK!!!! If you've got funk, you've got style.

I honestly don't know. Some people say it's her, some people say it's another model. It certainly looks like her to me.

Love me some Secret Omen & Cameosis . Cameosis being my favorite Cameo album. I liked every track. I don't think there are to many albums I can't say that about these days. I enjoyed Feel Me & Knights of the Sound Table but I feel Wayne Coopers vocal contribution were greatly missed though I enjoyed Singleton on I'll Always Stay I can always imagine what Ol Wayne would have done to that song. Oh, and Lockett vocals were always great too.

I, too will be purchasing this 2 for 1 cd.
I remember having the cassette of Feel Me back in 1980, and I got hooked on side two, particularly "Is This The Way". What a beautiful piano intro.
Actually now that I think of it, side 2 rivals side 1. What do you think?

all of these songs are fun to rock to while driving down the freeway/causeway/highway with friends. yah can't help rhythming, body moving and nodding yo head in time to the lyrical beat as the road views enhance the sounds. 'specially on 'word up'. makes one smile for miles. and don't let me get started on the dance floor. Cameo is the TNT. 'word up'

"Cameoisis" was my first record/introduction to them. "Shake You Pants" and "We're Goin' Out Tonight" were played heavily on the radio back then.

Add Secret Omen and Feel Me and you have the best albums in Cameos catalog IMO

I think after the success of Cameosis, they followed a similar formula: Straight up funk on side 1, then mix it up with ballads, mid-tempo grooves, and smooth soul. Katie Kinisky: "So What Are The Latest Dances, Nell?"
Nell Carter: "Anything The Black Folks did Last Year"

So? Track the model's paycheck and it most likely says Denise Matthews, anyway. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.
