Afro-Punk puts a smile on my face....

Everytime I go for a walk and hear someone blasting T-Pain, Trick Daddy, Lil Wayne or any of the BS that passes for rap (KRS-1 and Talib Kweli must be shaking their heads at the kind of music that gets mass exposure) I head back to my office and blast the Afro-Punk compilations on Soundcloud. I'm partial to "Inclement Weather" that came out in December 2014, but they are all good and feature great music produced in part or in total by artists of African descent [but lots of multiracial and multiethnic bands too]. Gives you hope.....oh and real hip hop is included in all of these mixes because true Black Rockers or afficionados aren't about stale, media industry created categories. Try it out if you can!

There's a great website. http://www.afropunk.com/ with a ton of information. Their Facebook page is also great.

Nevermind, found the mixtapes, is there a way of seeing the names of the artists?

Ah, thank you, I stupidly wasn't clicking on the show more tab, but I found it eventually. Thanks again for the recommendation, yeah I did really like Inclement Weather and am definitely going to listen to the others tomorrow. Although it's interesting to see my own personal change in music tastes, from being a total rock kid a few years ago to overall prefering the Open Mike Eagle track the best, but still really appreciated the exposure to other musical genres as I sometimes get stuck in a bit of a hip-hop rut in my listening habits and it's nice to step outside of it.

Me too starbelly. I've only seen one even out west and that was in Seattle, WA....but it was only about style-clothing not music. Hope they make it out here though....we need them badly!
