I came here to see if anyone was down with Alabama Shakes...how are there no references to this crazy-good band? Their new album, "Sound and Color" is probably, and there is no hyperbole here, the BEST album I have heard in a long fucking time, and this includes anything from Prince. In fact, upon hearing the first few songs released, my first thought was that they are where I wish Prince was..creating music that sounds like it came from the depths of their souls in creating it. I think the lead singer is even a Prince fan. She has a voice like nothing else today...emotive and powerful. She can go from a soft falsetto to a guttarl growl in the same note it seems. And she plays guitar with a nuance I've nto heard in some time. This is probably the only band that I desperately want to see as I used to feen for Prince back in the day. Anyone wanting something wholly different should definitely check them out. New cd is out next Tues. I have already pre-ordered the vinyl!

They've been praised often on this site and yes - the lead singer even wears Prince ear rings.

yeah, i been telling people about them for years.........not on here though (most new artists don't get attention on this site anymore) was great to see her wear those Prince earrings on SNL......and you can stream the new LP here on NPR if interested:

their first album was slept on for a long time, it seems; but their constant touring and word of mouth has really paid off. i'm streaming the new album now and it's awesome! it'll get me to the record store day of release for sure.

Long time fan. Stumbled on them on Jimmy Kimmel few years back. Seen the show 2x and Brittany is just amazing.

Love this band, they have a great sound!

Saw them at the Beacon back in March, and they were fantastic. Sound And Color is brilliant, and possibly album of the year. I'm obsessed with Future People right now.
