Top Ten Most overplayed Rock Songs Ever.

These are the songs that you can never escape. The songs that sound like elementry, middle, and school. They sound like college, first fucks, first shits, first giggles, first kids, second kids, third kids, grand kids etc. Because they have been overplayed to near death.

1. Strairway To Heaven- Zeppelin
2. Under The Bridge- RHCP
3. Satisfaction- Rolling Stones
4. Smells Like Teen Spirit- Nirvana
5. Hey Jude- The Beatles
6. Back In Black- AC/DC
7. Lynard Skynard- Freebird
8. Queen- We Will Rock You/ We Are The Champions
9. Aerosmith- Walk This Way
10. U2- With Or Without You.

Thoughts?

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

I never hear these. I do hear the Run DMC version of Walk This Way and Pride by U2. The last time I heard the Nirvana song was in the 1990s. These are songs I hear a lot:

.

The Eagles ~ Hotel California / Take It Easy / Heartache Tonight / Lyin' Eyes / Life In The Fast Lane

Eric Clapton ~ I Shot The Sheriff / Layla / Wonderful Tonight

Van Halen ~ Jump / Dancing In The Street

Bruce Springsteen ~ Born To Run

John Mellencamp ~ Jack & Diane

Manfred Mann's Earth Band ~ Blinded By The Light

Rolling Stones ~ Start Me Up / Shattered

The Cars ~ Good Times Roll

Peter Frampton ~ Show Me The Way

Heart ~ Barracuda

Steve Miller Band ~ Jungle Love / Keep On Rocking Me Baby

ZZ Top ~ Sharp Dressed Man

Santana ~ Black Magic Woman

Def Leppard ~ Photograph

Cheap Trick ~ I Want You To Want Me

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Well, most of the people I'm around either listen to the hip hop stations, urban contemporary, gospel, or tejano. The local classic rock station doesn't play anything past the 1980s, mostly boomer era acts. There used to be 2 classic rock stations, but the other one became a hip hop station. We have 4 hip hop stations, one is "rap oldies". The playlists for the 2 classic rock ones wasn't much different except the one that changed formats played more 60s stuff than the other and it played Journey a lot more.

At music at work its classic rock most of the time.
Never realized Queen, Journey, Billy Joel and Steve Miller Band
were the biggest rock acts of all time - judging
by the airplay they get.

Manfred Mann's Earth Band ~ Blinded By The Light - The story goes that Manfred Mann recorded this song as a way to get Bruce some money while Bruce was in management limbo. Ever since I heard that, I've listened to the song with a new appreciation!

Rolling Stones ~ Start Me Up / Shattered

"Hey Jude" really isn't a rock tune, is it? It's more pop than anything in my opinion.

However, the rest of your list is pretty solid. But here's mine:

"Stairway To Heaven" by Led Zeppelin

"You Shook My All Night Long" by AC/DC
"Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Hotel California" by The Eagles
"More Than A Feeling" by Boston
"Sweet Emotion" by Aerosmith
"Old Time Rock and Roll" by Bob Seger
"Carry On My Wayward Son" by Kansas
"Born To Be Wild" by Steppenwolf
"We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions" by Queen

"Old Time Rock and Roll' may be "overexposed", but I crank that shit up every time i hear it. It is my theme song, the lyrics fit me so well!!

Make it so, Number One...
