"Justin is one of the most dynamic artists of our lifetime, a visionary whose influence on pop culture starts with brilliant music and stretches well beyond,” declared Tom Poleman, President of National Programming Platforms for iHeartMedia. “I’m amazed how he regularly breaks barriers that continue to shape and define music trends."

I just literally fell off my chair reading this and I can't stop laughing... Bellyache laughter like when I was a kid! "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Love it. Love everything about it! "Janet Jackson is like an 80s sitcom that's been off the air for over 25 years; you see a rerun and realize it wasn't that great..."

I normally defend Justin Timberlake in this forum because I find the disdain he encounters here

Hey, if someone loves JT, I have no problem with that... But to describe him as an "innovator" in any sense of the word and then to hand him an award for it is just too much. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

This isn't surprising. His label has a partnership (or rather a financial relationship with) clear channel (who owns iheartradio) which they used to sponsor his last two albums... which is the reason why his last two albums got the radio play that they did, and how he got to be the sales exec on their 2013 iheartradio festival. JT's got good management and good connections in the industry. Change it one more time..

Yea gurl I literally fell out the chair laughing at this

Isn't "iHeartRadio" just a Clear Channel shadow company with a corny/pseudo-clever nicky? . Yeah its literally Clear Channel with a different logo. . This is a cute commercial. I wonder what he is promoting?

Like I said, calling Justin Timberlake's music, which I enjoy, "innovative," is indefensible. If anything, his music is a throwback even though it can be presented as having been updated. I agree with this. I enjoy some of JT's music, but I must say that he doesn't know when to end a song. They just go on and on. Anyway, I believe that some people on this site dislike him simply because he's a white boy or because of nipplegate. Janet's a big girl, she knew exactly what she was doing.

Nail on the head. That's exactly it. This forum has a borderline obsession with slighting Justin and Beyonce. Because the former is a largely commercially successful white boy who was able to keep his career after Michael's sister lost hers...and I can't even explain the obsessive hate towards the latter, other than to presume that it's coming from a bunch of bitter, frumpy dumpy females (and the gay men who befriend them) who when they see her are reminded of that pretty girl in high school who used to get all the attention that they could never have. Justin Timberlake and Beyonce Knowles are fake ass living dolls that came from the same cookie-cutter, boy band, Disney-fronted, exploitative, brainwashing the youth crew that made their lame ass predecessors that were "huge" but destined to eventually fail as "boys" and "girls" in the boy and girl groups became adults. Justin is the new Paul McCartney (being a horrible, unoriginal hack and all) and Beyonkey is the new Diana Ross (unwarranted unparalleled respect/"royalty status" and all). . They are cartoon character actors playing their roles, not innovators. . The fact that money, sorry, Clear Channel is honoring one of its prized cash cows is laughable. Why wouldn't they? They own him and Beyonkey, their labels, the plastic cases his CDs are sold in, and the billboards that his label (that they probably own) pay them to promote their McCulture. The awards probably also air on their television channel.
. This is like McDonald's changing its name to 'Burger City' and doing everything the same except hiring Mayor McCheese to run it and honoring him for being Mayor McCheese (something they created). This is a massive re-branding effort and it is literally re-shaping your synthetic PC "music industry" heroes. I think its hilarious and that all these awards are probably forgotten by the world faster than the "few hours" it takes to make their "art'.

Frumpy, dumpy girls and their equally awkward gay BFFS... "Janet Jackson is like an 80s sitcom that's been off the air for over 25 years; you see a rerun and realize it wasn't that great..."

728huey I see where you're going there but Timberlake is either at the driver's seat or providing the directions as their cherished "innovator". He is not an innocent, nor a natural talent, nor an original. He has been trained and prepared like veal since he was a little boy singing, dancing, and dodging reacharounds from grownups with TV's Christina Aguilera and Movie's Ryan Gosling on Mickey Mouse Club. Check out this great rare image of Beyonce and Justin during their development: . . They do look pretty majestic together. [Edited 3/17/15 10:44am]

Yeah, I remember when they started buying up the good independent local radio stations that I listened to all the time and brought dreck to the formatting. I stopped listening. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

. Justin Timberlake tore off Janet Jackson’s top during a halftime performance at Super Bowl XXXVIII, accidentally exposing her breast. Following the incident, CBS demanded an apology before allowing the artists to appear at the 46th Grammy Awards. Justin issued an apology and attended the awards; Janet made an apology which was deemed insufficient by CBS, and refused to make another one. Common argues that JT should have stayed away out of solidarity with Janet. .

> I suppose its time for people to get over Justin's supposedly letting Janet hang out to dry, or is it fry? The truth is she was an aging black female pop star at the time and any chances of her having another hit at that stage of the game was not gauranteed. Isn't Justin at his current age STILL younger than Janet was at the time of the Stuporbowl?
