it's gonna be just as bad as Hard Candy or MDNA

she's the new "has-been but still selling" veteran artist of the show business...

Says a guy named after the guitarist from Aerosmith, the AARP champions of "has-been but still selling" veteran artists. Pot Meets Kettle, that was Aerosmith's last album title right? Loved the ride at Walt Disney World. Hope the country/EDM solo album from Steven sells gangbusters.

.

nuts Slow news day it seems.

says a guy who assumes I still respect/dig the new stuff of Aerosmith (I don't) and who fails to see that, in my profile, Madonna is listed as one of my top5 fav artists

but she's done, face it (I have), of course she'll sell till the day she retires, but that doesn't mean her new "music" has to excite/interest me

Honestly I didn't expect such a cookie cutter hater-style post from you as you're a quality poster. And I agree Aerosmith has been somewhat lacking since 2000.

.

Its also a bit sad that this material isn't impacting you. I'm totally energized by it (can ya tell? shocked), I fell for her during Bedtime Stories so the recent leaks with less emphasis on disco have been sort of a second renaissance. This stuff is light years from Hard Candy, in my humble o. People call that her last pop/non-dance album but most of it is 4/4 disco style tunes just with pop producers vs dance/electronic-style producers.

Just watched the Brits performance, which was essentially a re-do of the Grammy's performance with some tweaks. Unfortunately, the cape she was wearing at the beginning didn't detach, and when the backup dancers snatched it for a quick reveal, they yanked her down some stairs onto the floor. Not the water cooler moment she was hoping for, I'm sure. I hope she's okay.

I definately shyed away from her during Hard Candy and MDNA, the concepts and players just weren't my type (except Orbit and older Timbo). I heard Diplo was on board and had been a casual fan since Hollertronix. Also like a year ago I asked Joe Henry on Facebook if he'd ever get a guitar album from Madonna, when the demos with all the backing guitars arrived it was like a prayer answered and that is such a cliche but its actually true here. My favorite offering from her post Ray Of Light work is I'm In Love With Love and some of this stuff is that girl being wild and not giving a fuck.

Also Idk if you guys were hip to Hollertronix but they were a brilliant mashup combo and Diplo was one of the two DJs. They did the breakout mixtape for M.I.A putting her (then) interesting flow over classic samples from P, Madonna, etc. ... its out there on the interwebz I bet. My friend gave me their one mixtape bitd it was like Ric Ocasek over Swizz Beatz just far out combos.

That's how things should be done: release an album and announce a tour.

Simple concept, huh? lol not sure why some artists have to make it so hard for their fans

I don't know what she just released. It's like an album, a remaster of the album, and a ton of b sides that should have been on the album. It's a mess, really, but I'm digging the music more than I have since, well, Music.

I don't understand this weird binarity. Someone's either "done", or ... I guess "not done"? JoeTyler if you go around seeing black and white you're gonna miss all the fun to be had in the grey areas.

of course, when I say she's done, I mean done in my world...she's done as far as I'm concerned wink

I don't hate her at all, but if she wants MY money (not that she needs it, of course lol) she should change her WHOLE approach (different sound, pop/rock songwriters, less DJ shit, less dancing/campy/gaudy shit on tours, etc.)

you guys have fun, but I've jumped out of the M wagon...

I admit I have to give the album a second (and a third, maybe) chance, but so far, the album, like HC and MDNA has left me extremely COLD after the very first listen...

right now I can't say which of the last three albums is the worst...

How could you like Madonna in the first place then? She's not a pop rock artist. She started out in clubs and working with dj's from the beginning of her career. She's trained as a professional dancer before she ever got into music. I don't see how she could totally change her whole approach and still be Madonna. Not sure you were ever on her wagon.

I'm not feeling this new song. It sounds like a filler song on an album. And BTW, I always thought that wrecking ball song would have been the perfect song for Madonna, instead of Madonna wannabe chipmunk singing it.

Now, that I know she's all right, I have to chuckle at the irony of the LFL lyrics: smile

Took me to heaven and let me fall down
Now that it's over I'm gonna carry on
Lifted me up, and watched me stumble
After the heartache I'm gonna carry on...
