It influenced Jam & Lewis production of "That's The Way Love Goes" for Janet... The production credits even go to a group called "The Flow"..

It probably inlfuenced early-Maxwell some...

Plus, he gave most of his funk/black stuff to The Time...

The Black Album is mostly a Time CD....

He shoots pop and rock, but returns....when needed

What I don't understand is that fans can't accept that these two musicians have two totally different career trajectories and two different musical scopes. Prince can assemble a band like the one you described in a heartbeat, but that's besides the point. What D does is independent of Prince and vice versa and that's the way it should be. The Vanguard is a tight soul band and D's is a soul musician to the core, so he should have a band with tight and funky chops. You can tell a difference...

Funk bands, groups, and producers made you dance...Not "Over-souling", and trying to beat Lenny at his rock game..

Your singles had to work in the dance clubs....

They made you dance in your car seats... It's all gone now...Just Hiphop made talking a bunch of trash-talking more funky than a funky beat...

Back then.... Rick James, Prince, The Time, Lakeside, Slave, Cameo, Ohio Players, P-Funk, even Mike had to move your body first to get to your mind...

Prince and MJ went pop, and finishhed it all..."Pillow-Talk/Quiet Storm R&B" and Hip Hop stole the youth..

People came to your shows to dance....even after disco was over... People danced at stadium-concerts too.. Probably high or drunk though...lol..which is a shame.. Still, this stuff now seems sluggish, image-driven, and too contrived.

Prince can do funk and rnb very well, but that is not who he is. His musicianship is indefinable. If I had to solely categorize Prince in terms of musical category, I would say rock.

D cannot do rock. It is not who he is.

"Live" is so fucking overrated.

Give me the vinyl and a nice pair of headphones and that is the perfect, preferable listening
experience in my opinion.

You can't appreciate the dense and nuanced production of Black Messiah live.

Agreed but the Parade Tour was also inspired by David Bowie's Last Dance Tour. Prince was able to mold an original stage show inspired by his predecessors without being completely derivative.

D'angelo is the Man.. Super Soulful.. The Real Deal..

But.. IMO he may want to stop himself from watching 1986 Prince videos before his next tour.
